Smilingjade wrote: February 23rd, 2021, 8:15 pm Good question....I am relatively new to this...so I have my husband that can read the male voice.
Hence, not sure how to handle that...

Please advise if I need to redo or you are specifically looking for someone else and I will gladly bow out.

Thanks.

I think the way you did it is fine.
It is a bit unusual, and reading Hen and Cock before each line is fine.
I'm not sure what the author meant be imitating the notes of the birds in this one and 25.
Although you might have been able to make a stronger contrast between the two, I'm happy with this.

Now, IF, but only IF, you wanted to recruit that male voice for this (maybe 25) that's fine, too. He would have to join LibriVox so he has a user name (we can forego the test recording). Let me know if you really want to do that and I'll tell you how to send the recording. Totally optional.

And, thank you Lomond for your comments and suggestions!

If you are good with the recordings I provided...that would be a slam dunk...I don't have to get a male narrator.

Appreciate the opportunity again and your feedback given so far to help me improve.
I am relatively new to LibriVox and am enjoying the volunteer work here.

Gratefully,

Chapter 34 - The Seven Foals
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/norsetales_34_dasent_128kb.mp3
11:13

This is definitely the longest piece I've done so far, so please let me know if any edits need to be made. Thanks! :)
Greetings -

No edits need to be made, kharrelson. Your reading is PL OK.

As a suggestion, you might want to read just a bit slower to keep your sentences from running into each other.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Lomond
Thank you for your feedback! I'm actively working to slow down my reading speed-- I'll get there someday, haha. I appreciate your critique and being able to participate in this project. :)

Chapter 4:

Amendis, I good job of reading, especially the interpretation of the troll's voice. Definitely PL OK.

I did notice that your reading of the introduction was softer than the actual section. Not a problem, just something that you might be aware of in the future.

Lomond
Thank you, Lomond! I've taken your note and will try to make sure it doesn't happen again. This was really fun and I'd like to get better at it.

Chapter 36:

This is one of those good news/bad news situations.

The good news is that Jessat did a nice job of reading this with good voice inflection and speed. It was easy and enjoyable to listen to.

The bad news is that the volume level checks in at 81.8 dB, well below our lower limit of 86 dB.

Jessat, a good first effort. Hopefully, you can boost the volume without any distortion.

Looking forward to your next offering.

Chapter 22 would be PL OK if it wasn't for one little problem.

At various places during the recording, I could hear a faint, high-pitched noise in the background. It was just loud enough to catch my attention.

Try running your recording through a background noise removal filter which should do the trick.

A revamp of section 36,

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/norsetales_36_dasent_128kb.mp3
13:30

I gain boosted the whole thing by 5 dB and did a bit of noise cleaning. I couldn't hear any obvious distortion but I didn't listen to it at max volume (my ears tend to be a bit sensitive). It passed when I ran it through the checker.

Let me know if it needs any further tweaking and in future I'll be sure to run a quick test through the checker before I get into it again.
