Hopefully, it's correct this time! It's my first go, thanks for being so patient!
It is correct this time. Chapter 11 - Cured At Last - is now PL OK.
You can use this chapter as a guide for how the meters and waveform display should look for a chapter at the proper volume.
A note for future recordings - I can hear your breath hitting the microphone on words starting with 'p' (and a few 't' words as well). You can prevent, or at least reduce, this by moving the microphone so it isn't directly in front of you - still pointed at your mouth, but a bit off to the left or right. As a bonus, this can make it a bit easier to see the text you're reading. Win-win!
Thank you Joseh. Your bit rate is now at 195 kbps; we use 128kbps. Your volume is a tiny bit high. We aim at 89 decibels, give our take 3, and your sample is now 92.8. Please adjust your out put bit rate to 128 and drop t he gain a bit and put another sample right in this thread so I will see it more quickly. We use a little program the Checker to see these things; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKVOYsaDoRo&feature=youtu.be.
Hi Phil, I sent a reply a few days ago. I have Chapter 1 ready for submission and QA. Please let me know if I can submit it. I am pretty much ready to submit chapter 2 after a little more QA. tks. Joseph Campo

I see your 1-minute test has been approved, so go ahead and submit chapter 1 (and 2 if it's ready). Don't forget the silence/room tone at the beginning and end.
Silence at start: 1/2 to 1 second, 1/2 second is ideal
Silence at end: 5 to 10 seconds, 5 seconds is ideal

I'm looking forward to hearing your chapters.
Great. thanks very much for yr help. Re the room silence. I know beginning was .5 to 1.0 secs. I thought the end silence tho was to be from 1 to 5 seconds. I'll double check what is written on the Book page and make sure I comply. 10 secs of silence at the end sounds excessive, but I will comply for that too. tks. JoeC

Yeah, 10 seconds is painfully long, but it's still allowed in the LibriVox standards. 5 seconds gives a listener time to stop the MP3 player before they get sucked into listening to "just one more chapter" - something like that.

I am uploading the chapter one now under separate post. Pls ack recpt. tks yr help. Joe Campo
I uploaded chapter 01. file duration 5:12.
thanks.

Joseph - what you actually uploaded was your recording of Chapter 2. It still needs the volume boosted (a lot!) and the opening and closing silences adjusted - other than that it sounds good.
I would guess that a lot of people use Audacity, like me, to do recordings. Does Librivox document anywhere the process for how to produce the perfect output for Librivox delivery for Audacity users?
I ask because Audacity has a Process page that describes steps to follow to pass the ACX check. I think that I just need to tweak that when I run Loudness Normalization from -20 LUFS (ACX) to -16 LUFS, which I found as a target in one of the Librivox dox.
Anyhow, let me know if I am cleared to start recording the items I signed up for. tks yr help. Joseph Campo
Sorry for the long delay in responding. The freezing weather took out our internet connection for the last six days. Your test is good and you definitely have the OK t o record lots and lots. We do not have a process set up like you describe but that would be a great thing to add, right? Go forth and record!!
