Go to a craft store, like Michael's or Hobby Lobby. They call them "craft sticks." You'll have to get a whole pack, but they're not very expensive. And surprisingly handy to have around!

I had a plethora of footnotes again - I did them the same as I did the jewels one except for one footnote in one of the poems where I used an endnote instead as the footnote was a couple of pages long.... Let me know if you want me to change it.

Section 38 is PL ok!

Section 39 has some picky notes, since I am holding the hymns themselves to a word perfect standard. (Also, while we're on the subject, I really liked the text of this section! Some wonderful devotional material in there!)

0:38 Text is "To the Name that brings Salvation" I hear "To that Name that brings Salvation"
0:41 Text is "Honour, worship, laud we pay" I hear "Honour, worship, laud we pray"
1:45 Text is "Jesu, we Thy Name adoring" I hear "Jesu, we Thy Name adore" (Also, I can't quite tell. Are you pronouncing Hay-su or Yay-su here? It kind of sounds like the first to me, although the second one is the traditional way, as far as I know. But it could be my ears playing tricks.)

I changed my first 'Jesu' to JAY-zoo as that is what I recently heard in a choral piece. I can always change it.

As for 'pray' and 'pay,' I like my version better! Hahaaa!

I read the discussion about placement of footnotes. For section 19, I don't see any good footnote placement that doesn't interrupt the flow.

17: (I don't know anything about these hours, so this was quite interesting to me. I wonder why he didn't just put each of these hymns in its own section, though, instead of including that second one in full as a footnote? )
6:48 Word change. It throws off the meter a bit. Text reads (p. 70): "Were whelmed like lead..." I hear: "Were overwhelmed like lead..."

18: (I really liked the meter of this one! You did a good job of bringing it out, too. )
1:59 Word change (tense). Text reads (p. 72): "Saith unto the scoffer..." I hear: "Said unto the scoffer..."

19: (This one is very interesting! The four creatures are certainly intriguing symbols.)

5:17 In general, these footnotes do quite well at the end of the stanzas. But I think this one would be better at the end of the line, after "devising," 5:07. Otherwise, I think we're apt to forget about the "double" thing. I tried it out that way and I think it sounds good. But if you'd rather leave it where it is, that would be fine too.
5:40 Word change. Text reads (p. 80): "Ox-- Whom victim's passion slayeth." I hear: "Ox-- Whose victim's passion slayeth."

20: (Some interesting parallels here! I'd never heard that about the bunch of grapes before. The footnotes are awkwardly placed in this one too, but I don't have a suggestion for what else to do with them, so they're fine as they are.)

Welcome! Feel free to lurk! I can't promise I'll remember to drop you a note if we have orphans. But I'll certainly post here, and if you're subscribed to the thread, you'll get a notification when anyone posts.

That being said, none of the hymns in this project are being sung, but only recited. The original tunes to most, if not all, of these hymns are lost to history. So we are reading these just as poetry.

22: (I like the readings of different wooden objects in the old testament and how each is a figure of the cross.)
3:22 This sounds like a totally different name. Text reads (p. 99), "So also S. Hildebert..." I hear, "So also S. Hyper..."
4:16 The same name occurs again here, and you pronounced it differently than the first time. They should at least be consistent. This time it sound like "He-bare." Should be "Hildebert."
5:56 Word change. Text reads, "There the Spirit's oil is scanted." I hear, "Where the Spirit's oil is scanted." The "where" sounds patched in, as if maybe you read "there" at first and then thought it was wrong.

23: (Forgive my saying so, but I think this is an example of when Bible allegorizers go too far! There's no way that this reading of Uriah/Bathsheba/David can hold any more water than a tumbleweed! )
4:23 Mispronunciation that changes the meaning. I hear "the genteel church." It should be "the Gentile church." (p. 104. Gentile rhymes with smile.)
4:41 Same as above.
6:43 Same as above.

24 PL ok! I do like how you chose to handle the footnotes here. That was a tough one!
