Section 39 has some picky notes, since I am holding the hymns themselves to a word perfect standard. (Also, while we're on the subject, I really liked the text of this section! Some wonderful devotional material in there!)
0:38 Text is "To the Name that brings Salvation" I hear "To that Name that brings Salvation"
0:41 Text is "Honour, worship, laud we pay" I hear "Honour, worship, laud we pray"
1:45 Text is "Jesu, we Thy Name adoring" I hear "Jesu, we Thy Name adore" (Also, I can't quite tell. Are you pronouncing Hay-su or Yay-su here?It kind of sounds like the first to me, although the second one is the traditional way, as far as I know. But it could be my ears playing tricks.)
Section 42 fixes (I hope.)mightyfelix wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 4:41 pm
Section 42: (Very moving!)
1:10 Text is "Thy sins, how great and foul are they" I hear "Thy sins, how great and foul they are"
2:16 Text is "For, if He had never died" I hear "For, if He had not died"
2:22 Text is "If thus He bled, that only Son" I hear "If thus He bled, the only Son"
Not bad for a guy with no good eyes at the moment!![]()

Devorah, section 33 still appears as in need of fixes. Did I miss some PL notes?mightyfelix wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2021, 2:46 pmThank you, everyone! Leni, those three are now PL ok. And Alan and Adrian, I added all those to the MW. Let me know if I missed something!
Thanks so much, Adrian! You did a great job with these. I have some nitpicky notes for a couple of these, since we are doing word perfect on the hymns.adrianstephens wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2021, 2:46 amAnd my last two:adrianstephens wrote: ↑January 1st, 2021, 3:02 amhttps://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/mediaevalhymns_17_neale_128kb.mp3 7:04

I read the discussion about placement of footnotes. For section 19, I don't see any good footnote placement that doesn't interrupt the flow.
Thanks,
Adrian

Thanks so much, Adrian! You did a great job with these. I have some nitpicky notes for a couple of these, since we are doing word perfect on the hymns. :)
17: (I don't know anything about these hours, so this was quite interesting to me. I wonder why he didn't just put each of these hymns in its own section, though, instead of including that second one in full as a footnote? )
6:48 Word change. It throws off the meter a bit. Text reads (p. 70): "Were whelmed like lead..." I hear: "Were overwhelmed like lead..."
18: (I really liked the meter of this one! You did a good job of bringing it out, too. :) )
1:59 Word change (tense). Text reads (p. 72): "Saith unto the scoffer..." I hear: "Said unto the scoffer..."
19: (This one is very interesting! The four creatures are certainly intriguing symbols.)
0:55 This one could be my ears playing tricks. Text reads (p. 78): "John the prophet's witness sharing..." I think I hear: "Join the prophet's witness sharing..."
5:17 In general, these footnotes do quite well at the end of the stanzas. But I think this one would be better at the end of the line, after "devising," 5:07. Otherwise, I think we're apt to forget about the "double" thing. I tried it out that way and I think it sounds good. But if you'd rather leave it where it is, that would be fine too.
5:40 Word change. Text reads (p. 80): "Ox-- Whom victim's passion slayeth." I hear: "Ox-- Whose victim's passion slayeth."
20: (Some interesting parallels here! I'd never heard that about the bunch of grapes before. The footnotes are awkwardly placed in this one too, but I don't have a suggestion for what else to do with them, so they're fine as they are.)
5:19 Word change. Text reads (p. 86): "He creates a new Creation." I hear: "He created a new Creation."
5:24 Word change. Text reads (p. 86): "Binds two peoples into one." I hear: "Binds two people into one."
And 21 PL ok! Some awkwardly placed footnotes here again, but again, I don't have a better idea! Well done!
Welcome! Feel free to lurk! I can't promise I'll remember to drop you a note if we have orphans. But I'll certainly post here, and if you're subscribed to the thread, you'll get a notification when anyone posts.KirstenNelson wrote: ↑January 11th, 2021, 1:31 pmI am late to the party here, but as a choral singer these are right up my alley! If anyone drops out, may I claim any orphans? Or do I just lurk and wait until I see an opening?
Thanks for your patience, Lynda! Finally getting caught up here today.Lmnei wrote: ↑January 6th, 2021, 7:43 pmHi Devorah -
Here are the last 3 recordings I signed up for -
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/mediaevalhymns_22_neale_128kb.mp3 - 8:40
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/mediaevalhymns_23_neale_128kb.mp3 - 11:27
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/mediaevalhymns_24_neale_128kb.mp3 - 8:00
I had a plethora of footnotes again - I did them the same as I did the jewels one except for one footnote in one of the poems where I used an endnote instead as the footnote was a couple of pages long.... Let me know if you want me to change it.
