Oops- I did not mean to take anyone's sections- I'm not sure how I missed this unless I had the window open for a while when I was reading over the chapters to decide on one. Sorry! Thank you so much for including me.

Please gimme all unclaimed sections; Sections 1 to 8 and sections 12 and 13.
I wish I could have all the sections but my mom taught me to share lol.
I intend to specialize in the brain and nervous system (neurosurgery) in the future and it seems not many are choosing this type of book haha.

Edit: I see new replies. I'll take sections 5, 6, 7, and 8 so others can take the remaining sections :D

Section 12 - Sounded good! I don't know what suggestions for improvement to give.

23:30 - There was about 5 seconds of silence between "end of section 12" and "Read by Maria James". Can you lessen this? It works fine to do it right after "End of section 12" like a new sentence in a paragraph comes right after the previous one. :)

We have a high profile trial going on now in Toronto. The person admitted guilt but is trying for the "not criminally responsible" verdict. Listening to this section on that implication was interesting. "You acted like an animal, not controlling your impulses." Hmm.

Here's the fix (I had already said the name at the beginning so it is just removed from the end)

Hmm, how timely! Yes the author had Ideas about Personal Responsibility. Wait til you hear the second half of the chapter. It's so interesting to read these old books and see the differing cultural expectations. Interesting that he's describing neuroplasticity too- 'the brain is a product of the Will.' I was taught neuroplasticity wasn't 'discovered' til the '70s.

Thanks! PL OK. :)

Maybe he posited it, but wasn't proven until the 70s? :hmm:

Thanks! PL to come tomorrow, probably. My brain is too mushy tonight to listen to something this heavy. :)

Section 13 OK!

So THAT's why old people are set in their ways!

Keep your eye on this thread; in about 2 months there will probably be orphaned sections. :)

Thanks, but it was already PL'd. :) Also, this project already has a dedicated proof-listener, so we aren't looking for a listener. ;)

(In the Magic Window, at the top before the section listing, it says something like, "This project has a DPL who will listen to all sections: [name]". If there's a name there, the project has a DPL, and that name is the person.)

Here's section 14, with a runtime of 25:25:

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/brainandpersonality_14_thomson_128kb.mp3

He has no idea what he's talking about.
If he did, he wouldn't need 3 pages upfront to explain the concept of "mystery".
I actually yelled at him to "get on with it". I hope it's getting better in the second half.
Cheers, Ava.

Or maybe he thinks his audience needs that much explanation?

Thanks! I should be able to PL today. :)
