Hi there,

I'm coming back from a extended break but I'd love to take 7 and 48 if they aren't claimed!

Thanks!

How about 5, The Nation Builders? As I read through this, it almost seemed like the inside look at the last four lines of The Women of the West. Almost explaining the 'male' side of those lines.

Wayne

Certainly, Wayne, I'll sign you up for that one.

"The Nation Builders" has a great metre to it; I've always found that after a few stanzas, it builds till it seems to align with one's pulse.

Cheers,
Chris
Well, here it is, a little faster than I expected.

As I was reading this my wife said "That sounds like a really good poem". I agreed with her and told here that it was an Australian poem about Australia, and she said she thought it was about our country. When you think about it, the settlement of our two countries are really quite similar in many ways. :D

Wayne
A mighty fine reading, Wayne! PL-OK.

Just one of quite a few similarities are the gold rushes in both Australia and the United States. The Australian ones were actually sparked by an Australian returning from California in the mid-19th century. He was unsuccessful over there, but when he got back, he was struck by how similar some areas in New South Wales were in geological appearance to the Californian gold fields. He went prospecting around, with the help of the local pub-owner's young son as a guide. Rather amusing is what he is on record as saying to the kid when they struck gold: He said "This shall be a memorable day. I shall be a baronet, you shall be knighted and my old horse shall be stuffed inside a glass case and sent to the British museum!"

Thanks,
Chris

The poem itself is all good, Alan, however at the end the phrase "This recording is in the public domain" is missing.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris
I always thought that if the full disclaimer was used, which states the the recording is Public Domain, it was not necessary to repeat the statement at the end, where it is only needed with the short disclaimer.

That makes sense, Alan. I'll mark it PL-OK.
