I've added the 5 seconds to the end. Let me know if you want me to mess with the volume, though it sounds fine on my end I realize that means nothing.. Thanks, sorry for the trouble.

PS: If these submissions don't overwrite themselves, how to avoid that you wind up with many iterations, or do you take care of that?
The silence at the end is fine now. I think it will sound better if you do reduce the volume by - say - 3 dB and upload it again.
The software at librivox.org takes care of keeping track of the current one. (and besides, I have a copy of the first one on my computer!)

I did listen to the whole chapter and the reading is fine, so if you reduce the volume and upload again I'll just do a spot check.

Chaapter 6 - Little Girl's Christmas - everything is fine with this chapter except you put 'lincoln' (author of this story) in the filename rather than 'dickinson' (listed author of the book). I've changed the filename to
childrensbookofchristmasstories_06_dickinson_128kb.mp3
and re-uploaded it for you. With the name change, it's PL OK - thank you.

(Phil, at some point
https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/childrensbookofchristmasstories_06_lincoln_128kb.mp3
will need to be removed from the uuploader (unless the software is set up to purge things automagically).

I've completed section 34, Little Gretchen. It's 18 mins 32seconds long.

Lou - I found 3 problems. All should be easily fixable.
1) In the intro and outro you read 'chapter 33' rather than 'chapter 34' (twice in the beginning and one more time at the end.)
2) Your closing silence is about 2 3/4 seconds long - since you'll probably find it easiest to re-record the introduction and outro and edit those onto the story, just make sure to leave more silence on the ending - you're aiming for 5 seconds of silence.
3) Your overall volume is louder than the LibriVox standard range. 'Checker' reports the volume as 93 when it should be in the 86 to 92 range. After you've made the other two edits, select the whole track and use the 'Amplify...' Effect to change the volume by -4 dB . That is to say, make it this much quieter.

No worries Rich,

I'll sort it tomorrow. Sorry, I was going by the numerals at the top. Easy fixes. Glad you didn't mention my terrible granny voice 😂

Hi again!
Thank you for the feedback. Here it is, changed volume up, coming in at 89.0dB even now.

Track Length 24:55.09
Hope this works well, let me know if you need any changes.
Thank you!
Wendy

EDIT: Just watched an old video about uploading and it says to have the Metadata checked off, mine doesn't, do you want me to resubmit- or is that not done anymore?
Thank you.

Thanks. No, that old video should not even be available any more; thought I had deleted it. We ignore metadata now so no need to resubmit at all.

You're all set! Chapter 2 - The Fir -Tree - is now PL OK. Thanks.
Hans Christian Andersen does 'melancholy' in so many of his stories.

By the way, Audacity can warn you if parts of your recording are clipping - different versions of Audacity sometimes move things around in the menus, but in my version there's a 'Show Clipping (on/off)' toggle in the 'View' menu. With it on anything that's too loud - even if it's just for 1/44100th of a second - is highlighted with a red marking.

Please tell me where you found this video and/or the name of it. I have been going through my Youtube videos and don't see it. I ask because it really needs to be deleted 'cuse it's OLD and out of date. Kinda like me. thanks.

AAAh! Setting tech specs in Audacity! Yeah. I was proud of that one for years and made a new one just 6 months ago. Thanks for letting me know it is still out there misleading people about metadata. Still good info, I agree, but the metadata is wrong. tsk, tsk.
