I’ll spot check the chapter soon. It will be interesting to find if this makes any significant difference. Just don’t block any cooling vents - including the bottom (many laptops have air intakes there)!

Chapter 10 - The Story of the Christ-Child - PL OK. Thank you.HLinnae wrote: ↑November 2nd, 2020, 8:58 am Thank you, Rich. I've amplified the file and reloaded it: https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/childrensbookofchristmasstories_10_dickinson_128kb.mp3
Checker says your overall volume is at 87.9 dB (everything from 86 - 92 dB is OK) and Audacity says your loudest peak is about 0.4 dB from clipping - both just what you wanted.
There are a few chapters in this book left open - if you want to claim one and try a few pillows in your recording area I'll compare this chapter with your next one. That should be informative.

Chapter 1 - Christmas at Fezziwig's Warehouse - PL OK.
Chapter 23 - Christmas in the Barn - You did not read "Christmas in the Barn, by F. Arnstein" at the end of the introduction. Could you possibly record that and edit it in?

Your opening silence is a bit long - about 1 1/4 seconds. It should be no longer than 1 second, but I can close my eyes and pretend I didn't find that. (But reduce the length of the opening silence in your future recordings please.) You put a long pause between 'Merry Christmas, Betty, Merry Christmas" and "End of 'The Queerest Christmas'" (nearly 7 seconds), but if you as the reader think the story needs that much time to settle in the listener's mind that's your call.
Chapter 18 - PL OK.
There is a tiny difference in the recording from your chapter 10; it sounds just a bit more like it was recorded in a studio and less like a room, but both versions are fine.
