Hi Chris

here you have your poor devil's inn, complete with all the French pronunciations I could find, even though I noticed I ruined many a rhyme by doing that, since they were all coined on an English pronunciation of the words  no matter, this is my interpretation now and I think it has a certain charm as well.

Recording time: 3:50 min.

Wittily and whimsically read! And PL-OK.

French teachers in Australia, despairing of our accent, long ago learned the value of the "learn-by-doing" technique in pronunciation exercises... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hBOBShNeEd92j2PmVZDsXt-zxEs76yDT/view?usp=sharing

Thanks,
Chris

Thank you, Larry, signed up.

I seem to recall some lads from Liverpool singing that it's all you need.

Cheers,
Chris

btw Chris, I check the tests from time to time to see whether our new volunteers have passed and it looks like itiimmyy passed the test here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=83406, so you can open up his reader page and sign him up officially for his 4 claims in the MW :)

In the same line, megbernardo has done the test, but still has some corrections to do, so this thread might be worth watching too, as she may have an all clear any time soon: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=83471

The other two ALEXCWARREN and SamHindmarsh still only have one post, so no change there yet.

Here are those four horsemen:

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/wineandroses_15_daley_128kb.mp3 4:45
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/wineandroses_35_daley_128kb.mp3 2:48
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/wineandroses_40_daley_128kb.mp3 1:52

Red lips and lost love, I guess.

Lads from Liverpool. Catchy name for some singing group, I suppose?
Glad we didn't get stuck with that.

Hello, can I claim section 68, "Ill"? This is my first time recording so I thought I'd read a short section for a test. I would like to appear as "megbernardo" in the catalogue. Thanks!
Hello, Meg and welcome to Librivox!

I can reserve this poem for you for one month. This will give you the time to complete your one-minute-test, which we recommend, before you start recording anything in a project.

The test's purpose is to check that your technical settings are all up to LV standard. You can read all about it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Please post the test in the Listeners Wanted forum: viewforum.php?f=21 and someone will check it and give you feedback or advice if needed.

As soon as the test is ok'ed, please post the results back here, and then I can assign you the sections officially.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Good luck with the test !

Chris
Thanks! I got my 1-minute test OK'ed: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=83471. Can I start work on recording the section "Ill" then?

thanks for letting us know, Meg :) yes, sure, you can start immediately. All the important details on how to name your file for this project and how to speak the intro disclaimer can be found in the very first post.

I see someone in another project already opened your personal reader page, so you're all set.

Have fun !

Sonia
