The DPL for this project is Michele Fry.Subtitled "Fifty Years' March of the Republic," this is steel tycoon Andrew Carnegie's love letter to America, first published in 1886, an impassioned celebration of the development of American business and opportunity, and her working population's unprecedented rise in prosperity, and a call for other nations to follow in America's footsteps. Through simple, direct discussions of the nature of the American character and her labor market, education, religion, industry, art, literature, foreign affairs, legal system and more, Carnegie sets out a case for a brand of conservative democracy he hopes the world will emulate. Carnegie was born in Scotland and emigrated to America as a penniless teenager. His Carnegie Steel Company launched the steel industry in Pittsburgh, which launched the expansion of the railroads, and after its sale to J.P. Morgan, Carnegie devoted his life to philanthropic causes. His charitable organizations built more than 2,500 public libraries around the world, and gave away more than $350 million during his lifetime. ( ~ Michele Fry)

Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
