You're in for section 18. I hope you'll be frugal and spend your money wisely.

There, corrected and sorry :))

Thanks Ava

In addition to the regular ten, the Catholic Church has a further five commandments, one of which is "to support the pastors of the church."

To save myself from posthumous consignment to that infernal basement where I would be playing gin rummy with Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot I have decided to offer all my income from Librivox recordings to the church. After all, they say that it's the thought which counts.

Cheers

For now, I will hold section 17 for you for a month or so. Also, while you're doing your test, you can think of a catalog name for yourself. If you are saying a name in your recordings, this may be a good choice so that your fans can look for you in our catalog, but anything goes, really...

Have fun on here, and ask if you have questions! :D
Hello again,
I put up my test to the’Listeners Wanted’ forum, and received a very nice comment, but nothing on the specs of the recording. I finally figured out the Checker, and found out the mic volume was wrong. I recorded a new test and posted it to my last one with the correction.
Is there something else I need to do? I know everyone on here is a volunteer, so if it normally takes a while, I completely understand. I’m just excited to get started😁 Thank you for any direction you can give me!- Teena

I can't check this myself, sorry. You need to post in the thread so that it is bumped to the top of the list again. We don't get notifications if you just change a post and things may be overlooked this way.

Good morning. I have just received an all clear on my test. I was given a couple of videos to watch for background noise reduction that I will watch now.
If I am still good for section 17, Christian Charity, I will begin working on it.
Thank you for all your help - this is a pretty great community😁

If you can direct me to a capable website to help clutsy American monoglots it would be MOST appreciated.
I can direct you to this recording Tom

It's a bit muffled, but I hope you understand. I read it in normal speed and slowed down word-by-word.
Hope this helps!
Many thanks for the quite understandable and helpful pronunciation guide for that, to me, challenging bit of French. I would love to have an equally helpful (and patient) online resource for French words when I come across them.

So, here is my attempt to apply your pronunciation guidance, duration is 19mm28ss:

Thank you Tom!
I'm glad the recording was useful. My French is very, very rusty, I'm not conversant anymore, but I can still fake it for recordings here and there.

Teena, I'm happy to "officially" welcome you to this project. :D Everything you need to know is in the first post. If you have problems, let me know.
I see that Algy commented on "clicks" in your test recording. These are often what we call "mouth noises", and everybody makes them to some extent. It's best to avoid them because cleaning them is a bear, really... How to avoid them: By drinking! Water, preferably. I always have a bottle of water next to me when I'm recording and I take a sip ever so often when I notice I'm getting clicky.

It's the same with the background noise: The less you have to begin with (by recording in a really quiet and nicely padded room), the less you have to clean which can be difficult. You can always try it out on your test and post a new one, by the way.

Anyway, welcome to LV and let me know if you have questions!
Cheers, Ava.
