    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/falcononbalticco00knig/mode/1up
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening!
Level of prooflistening requested: standard, but I will ask that you aim to pronounce geographical place names correctly. Please ask if unsure.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will act as DPL on this book, and read the first and last chapters, 1 and 15 + the end Note.
Waiting for an MC to set up the MW.

Oh, thank you so much, Lynnet. Much appreciated. I may need to ask the odd question or three, but I’ll let you know.

Lynnet I appear to have left an extraneous nonsense word in the summary 'boyage' - how can this be removed? I tried editing the first post, but instead it appears to have duplicated itself. Help...
Also, he calls himself E.F. Knight on the book - can I use that instead of the full name in the intro etc?

And what, if anything, do I enter in the Meta column of the MW?

I have deleted the extra posts of the first post 8-)
To edit the first post, look for the pencil icon (just above where the title is in bold, the left-most one on the right... possibly roughly central on the page). Once you’ve made changes, click on submit.
No need to worry about the metadata... that’s for when you have a collection with multiple authors, so each section can be linked to its author.
And yes, you can call him E.F. 8-)

Thanks very much.
That is how I edited the posts (pencil icon) but for some odd reason it duplicated rather than updated. I wonder if it was because I was doing it on the iPad vs PC... anyway, thanks for fixing and answering my questions.

Yes, he's quite an entertaining writer. Thanks for ignoring the error I made in the chapter in favour of the proper name for it. I've updated the MW accordingly (left out 'New' in the title).
Knowing how much English pronunciations amuse you, I shall advise you that with placenames ending in 'wich', the w is ignored and not pronounced. So Harwich is said something like "Harritch" https://forvo.com/word/harwich/
A town ending in "-wich" was a settlement in Anglo-Saxon England characterised by extensive artisan activity and trade. The name is derived from the Anglo-Saxon suffix -wīc, meaning "a dwelling or fortified place".
PL OK. Thanks for a lovely reading.

I'm tempted to go back and make the fix to Harwich, but I'm too lazy. (I think the English will forgive me as they must be quite used to people botching up names.)

May I have Chapter 3?
