This should be mandatory reading for every preacher and ministerial student. This has totally been my experience. The more I write, the less effective. More than once I've had to preach on the spur of the moment, or change the message instantly upon inspiration. Once had to do this in Creole, something I had never done at all. That is not to say there is no preparation at all, but it is of a different type. And, no preaching should ever be done without the anointing. Peter's sermon on the day of Pentecost or Stephen's address to the Sanhedrin, or so many of Paul's messages are good examples. There is familiar saying - be prepared to preach, pray or die on a moments notice.
