Harmonium by Wallace Stevens (1879 - 1955).

This is the first edition of Wallace Stevens's first book, with poetry written between 1914 and 1923. A later edition was printed with the inclusion of additional poems and, somewhat surprisingly, three of the earlier poems omitted. (KevinS)

Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two-month deadline.

     Bit Rate: 128 kbps
     Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz

     No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
     Make sure you add this to the beginning of your recording:
     START of recording (Intro)

     Need noise-cleaning?
     Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

     128 kbps MP3
     harmonium_##_stevens_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. harmonium_01_stevens_128kb.mp3)

I couldn't think of any beyond the title and author, but those are clear enough in the indexing, I assume.

Perhaps we could add "modernist poetry.'

David, I'll fill out the titles as soon as we figure out a good solution for this. The poems are not numbered and I don't know if listing a range a page numbers makes sense. As there are sometimes five or six poems to a section, we certainly can't use poem titles. (In two cases we can use a title, but then we would not be consistent with the rest.) I just don't know yet. I think Eva and Nemo are the smart ones; maybe they will have the solution. Helen, too, though I haven't had the pleasure of working with her before. Have you had experience with this puzzle?

No, I have not run into this situation before. At 125 pages of poetry (80 poems by my count), that breaks down to approx 7 pages per section. As you say, there are a couple of longer poems rating their own section. The poems would not be searchable individually going by sections.
Would you consider each poem as one section, to simplify things?

David, we were modeling this poem sectioning on some other poetry projects done at LV recently, like this one:

We actually put quite a lot of work into breaking out sections intelligently this way, trying to create a reasonable section length and a good match to readers ... the main impetus originally, being that some listeners say that they don't listen to LV poetry at all because the constant intros and outros spoil the experience, or so I've read. This could be especially egregious with Stevens because as a sort of imagist-influenced poet, many of his poems are quite concise.

In this case, the description of each section would just be a guide to help the reader remember where they start, as in the examples listed above. We have a separate Google Doc to help keep track, too.

Is this something you can work with? I think we have really worked out all the nitty details, more or less.

(Kevin, in one of Nemo's messages ... or the google doc, I can't remember now? must check ... there was suggested text for every section you can just paste in if you want to. It contains the first poem's title for that section.)
