Am I correct that Julia is just 1 line, and do you need an editor for that drama section? If so, I could do both.

Thank you!

I think I've found all of Julia's lines. There is one more on page 86, and then on page 92.

On page 91, there is a paragraph in Julia's words. Would you like that in my voice, or in the narrator's voice?

good morning,

shame on me, i even didn't add julia to the cast list, originally.
and now i didn't see page 86..

i am sorry!
and --> thank you!

yes, this half page 91 is a good question and for sure a matter of interpretation.
i prefer to stay true to the text and let the guest tell of that talk.
a reader who likes to act with his/her voice can do wonders with that paragraph, i hope.
(also, i doubt i am able to organize a perfect mixed up talk with dialogue and telling and stuff. i am german speaking, and that would be some hassle i fear.)

another topic, which i have not thought over yet:
there are some few directing comments (eg page 82: the guest, somewhat scornfully, p90: guest, jumping up)
do you want to read them, being the editor?
(do you say editress in english?)

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I have uploaded my 1 minute test to the Listeners & Editors Wanted forum (https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_jrutman7.mp3, 00:24); with your OK, I am ready to get started on the sections!

Best,

Julia

hi julia,

good morning and my best warm wishes to you, too! :D

a wonderful recording with a warning hint by checker - your 1 minute test recording is PL OK!

explanation: we have a software tool most of us use, it is called checker and i think it is linked in our wiki. it tested your file ok with a warning about the background noise.
i didn't hear any, and looked up your file in audacity.
you have less than two seconds of ending silence (standard for librivox recordings are always to leave 5 seconds of silence at the end), and that should be the cause for that false positive. on the other hand, in the ending silence, i saw some sound waves.
so some breathing noises or background noises may be an aspect, too.
i really do think, that your recording is ok, but please: keep an eye on such aspects and try noise reduction, in case you get that pl feedback. for now and because i know, that checker doesn't like too short ending silences...nothing left to do regarding the test :-)

next steps:

1. lease tell me the name you want to publish in the catalogue (and mention in the recordings, if you wish so):
- every reader gets a catalogue page.
- your catalogue name can be an alias, your forum name or your real name (or something else) (if you want to read a name in the recordings, it should be the catalogue name - but this is recommended, only. on librivox, we have less rules which are absolutely necessary, than i expected as a new user)
- it offers some additional functionalities (for yourself, as a reader): an overview over your claims, eg.
- we can publish a link to a homepage or a blog, if existing and you wish to do so

--> please tell me your name in the catalogue (with punctuation) and a link (if any)

2. please, begin to record :-D

so fast and so good your 1 minute test!
thank you!

cheers,
wolfi

the remaining three sections will soon follow. please let me know if you have any feedback!
the name i would like published in the catalogue is: Ze'eva

hi julia!

1. here is your reader page: https://librivox.org/reader/15706
2. 31,32,34,35 are assigned
3. data section 31 is entered (a short hint: it is librivox rule and etiquette to always post the duration of the file with a link. i have read several reasons for that which may or may not be the case sometimes (like different handicaps, eases the work of bc and mc, and so on) --> most bc will ask for the duration before accepting the commit! this time it is not that big of deal, i have looked it up :-) but please: always post the duration with your link!)

our dpl is cadastra - her pl will come for sure :-)

I am interested in section 16, to be done as a play.

I would love to read the part of I. if it has not already been claimed.

Thanks!

Absolutely! I must admit, I've not recorded a part for a play here on LibriVox just yet. How does it work? Do I just say all my lines within the same mp3 file, separated by a decent amount of space?
Just let me know and I will get to work. :)

Thanks.

good evening stacy,

i have signed you up for this section!
thank you very much for your claim!

how does it work?

1. exactly like you thought!
you read your lines and

2. save it all as one recording (filename for section 53 would be essaysonart_53_goethe_128kb.mp3)

3. please leave 3 seconds after every entrance (to be honest, i don't know the exact word for this in a audio drama in german, so i cannot look it up. i hope, you know what i mean?).

4. please read an additional intro text: intro: [role-name] read by [reader]

interpretation, emphasis and so on are totally up to you!
you can read it like a normal text, or you can let your shakespearean emotions take you with you.
either way, it will suit goethe (and librivox dramatic readings or plays) :-)

i have to say it clearly, these are my first dramatic readings as a bc, too.
so please, don't hesitate to ask!
i just don't know enough to guess all questions which are possible to show up.

what is important, is:
our dpl and the editor of this mini play will -maybe- have remarks or maybe will discover missing parts or..
whatever.
so my appeal is: please, stay around after uploading and even after a pl ok - it can be, that we will need your further help to get this into the catalogue!

what i want you to give as a hint: we have an own subforum for plays and dramatic readings.
you will find many books there, which are planned like that as a whole.
here in this book, they are somewhat hidden - another and an additional reason i am soo thankful for every contribution :-)
here is the subforum with many more projects: viewforum.php?f=27

i wish you a great day!

I would love to tackle section 57 dialogue along with my two fellow collaborators who have also agreed, with myself playing one role and editor. Is that possible?

hi marcus,

thank you so much for your interest!
but i have to ask two questions...

first question:
two collaborators? do they have an account on librivox? while some admins are capale to deal with special situations and solo/síngle account group projects and so on...
generally spoken, we librivoxers prefer to keep things tidy, so that everyone can read a disclaimer, deliver the contents with tech specs we need, and so on.
this is a group project which is not comparable to a solo/single account group project, so this will apply for sure.

second question:
section 57 is just a sort of administration-section to ease the handling of the mw. one role is uploaded and pl ok, already (section 60).
what i can offer you is: i claimed two roles (intro, friend of artist) and the editor (which is not a rwader role, but editing, cutting and eventually recording stage directions, which i couldn't find any in this play, what i remember).
and i will happily step back and assign the sections you are claiming to you (or other librivoxers).

i am sorry, but i have to be clear about what is possile and what not.
and since this is my first book, where are two plays mixed into, and additionally i'm by far not a mc, i cannot offer you things outside our standard rules.

thank you!
greetings from tyrol :-)

Thank you Wolfi for your reply, Pleased to meet you. To clarify are you saying that for the reader roles in section 57, “Spectator” is no longer available? But only “intro” and “Friend of Artist?” I’m not sure if I understood your second question. What were you saying about section 60? Am I understanding you correctly in that you are saying that the collaborators just have to be also registered here on Librivox and inquiring with you directly? And they must submit there own audio files? I was desiring to record with the other parties for a natural and responsive interaction for an authentic sounding dialogue and then format all files and send in whatever fashion meets your specifications. Of course this approach would not work if “spectator” role is already complete. I’m not sure what you meant by “i claimed two roles”. I’m guessing you meant “unclaimed?” Sorry if I’ve misunderstood things.

Thank you,
Marcus

hi marcus,

i saw that this is your second posting here and i will have to guide you a little bit more than i have done.
i'm sorry, that i was a little bit too much in my librivoxing world and too blind to look up your account info..

1. yes it is correct: unless a mc (just think of admins and masters of the forum) is managing this, we (i...) don't accept group recordings. every reader needs an account. every reader has to do the one minute test to learn about our procedures and tech specs. every reader should read our librivox disclaimer, to be sure and understand, that we give our recordings away for free. "all librivox recordings are in the public domain" - we read that for several reasons, one of them is the reader. and most group recordings, plays, dramatic readings and so on are edited, so that a single file is created - after several files were uploaded and prooflistened. an editor creates a single file (play) of several role-files.
for further informations, please have a look in our welcome email, which we send out after every registration. or have a look in our wiki: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test

2. you have found it already and saw section 57, already. theoretical background info ypu will need: the "magic window" is our administration tool in the first posting of this thread. when you scroll down a bit, you will see a linked "window" with sections. this is our mw. you are correct, the sections and assignments are written down in this window. when you scroll down in this window, you will see, that 1 section is already claimed, recorded, and uploaded, proof-listened and gt the pl ok. this role is done and notavailable. the other sections of this play are claimed by me myself (my nickname, schrm, is written in the second row). i can give them to you, but not to you for a group to read.

3. you are quite correct, but: i didn't unsign them, yet. there are too many aspects, which need to be clarified - and honestly, i want to do these sections myself.

--> as a recommendation: don't begin with claiming a whole play for a group. it is not pessimism, but also the result of our little dialogue here: it is too complicated. it won't be successful and it is too much of work and explaining, to be honest.
try to begin with first steps first and begin as a reader.
or ask in the help sections!
i cannot speak for mc's like our specialised todd - he is something like "our play and dramatic readings mc".
--> here in this thread, i am sorry. i have to decline your claims for several reasons.

.... :( ...
sorry about that!

greetings from tyrol,
