Flaming Youth by Samuel Hopkins Adams (1871 - 1958).

This book tells the story of the Fentriss sisters and their mother. They are educated and rich. They live in a suburb. They are looking for love. Their quest for love leads them to many different places. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote about it: "the novel persuaded certain moralistic people that a woman could be seduced without being immoral". It was scandalous for the time because of the frank descriptions of sexuality and relationships. Yet to the modern readers it may seem as if someone wrote this book only a few years ago. The author was a well respected journalist and novelist. This book was so "risky" for him that he published it under a pen name. It is recommended to those who wish to learn about the Jazz age, about the new woman (as she is seen by a man) and about a discourse which was completely new at the time. Important note: the author died in 1958. Yet, according to the rule of the short term, as the book was first published in the USA, it is in the public domain all over the world. - Summary by Stav Nisser.
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/61582
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Hello
nickelkwan,
welcome to Librivox. I hope you will enjoy here. The introduction and chapter 1 are all yours. However, before you start, please let us know under which name you would like to be credited in the catalogue. It can be your real name, your forum name, or something else that you choose. We usualy recommend a one- minute sample recording, just to make sure that your technical settings are all correct, but the introduction is so short that it can also serve as a test recording as far as I am concerned. What ever you decide. And if you have questions, feel free to ask.
Stav.

Hi - I'm sticking my nose in where it probably doesn't belong.

Stav, you say in the first post that this is PD everywhere in the world because it was published in the USA and is PD in the USA. That is NOT true. It's only true in countries for which the Rule of the Shorter Term applies. Indonesia is not one of them. There is a list of who does and does not honor Rule of the Shorter Term here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_the_shorter_term

Sorry, but this isn't PD for Annie.

Shall I remove Annie's name from the magic window? Perhaps you send her a message in case she hasn't seen these posts and has started recording?

I am sorry for not PMing you properly. I interred quorenteen and life became hellish for a few days. It means it is not in the public domain in your country. You decide what to do with this information. I cannot tell you strictly not to record, it is your call.

I'll take chapters 6-9 if that's ok.
