The History Of Sir Richard Calmady by Lucas Malet (1852 - 1931).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/the-history-of-sir-richard-calmady-by-lucas-malet/
Lucas Malet is the pen name of Mary Kingsley, daughter of Charles Kingsley, well known Victorian author. After separating from her husband, she became a successful novelist. In her time, she eclipsed Henry James and Thomas Hardy. Her novels rivaled that of Rudyard Kipling. The Calmady is an ancient and wealthy family. But disability crosses classes and genders, and does not skip Richard, the heir. At the beginning he is considered a clown, and the book follows his development into an integrated member of society.

It is a twist on the picaresque novels, where characters made outside journeys in order to feel fulfilled. It topped the best sellers list of Publisher's Weekly. Reviews were rave. It was considered "the best novel of the season". The readers would decide if it is true. - Summary by Stav Nisser.
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/23784
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I am glad to see you here too. I arranged the mw. It is singular that for the last chapter I provided the wordcount and not the page number but I could not find it and wanted an accurate length.

Hi team, as the chapter titles are quite long, can we use the short intro for all but the first chapter? Anne

Hi Anne,
interesting point. I suggest the following:
"book x, chapter x, of The Hisrory Of Sir Richard Lalmady. This is a librivox recording... Book x (title), chapter x, (title". X goes for number. What do you think?
Stav.

Please don't change this part though: "This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org". It needs to be included in whole in a group book project. Thank you!

I like Stav's suggestion to include Book and chapter numbers so I've added that in the first post.

It was only a guess. You can go with the second possibility, it is just as well.

Thank you, I see there is no DPL as yet, so do I wait before uploading any files? Also I thought we no longer added any ID3 tags?, don't want to mess it up and make extra work for cataloguers! This story is certainly a change of pace from my other current project, which consists of strolling with a genteel lady through the changes of seasons in her little village!! cheers, Anne
