This is my first recording. Darren Beckham is my name.

I'd like to do section 24:
BOOK 3, CHAPTER VII. SOCRATES PERSUADETH CHARMIDAS, A PERSON OF MERIT AND GREAT CAPACITY, BUT VERY MODEST AND DIFFIDENT OF HIMSELF, TO UNDERTAKE THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC

I'll upload and seek feedback when done. THanks!

Hello, Darren, and welcome to LibriVox.I will assign you the section, thanks for claiming. It is a short section, good for a first try, but we also suggest that before doing the section you try the 1-minute test, as explained here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

I went ahead and did this short section. If you're ok listening to it, I'd love any feedback. Ready to learn!:

I am on MacOS 10.15.2; Using Garageband + audacity to get 128 kbps/mono... Just using microphone on headphones. Haven't had the chance to pick up real equipment.

Hello! I listened to your section, and here are a few notes:

- Your file is in variable bit rate, it should be constant, at 128kbps. That doesn't require re-recording, just re-exporting.
- Also, the filenames follow a scheme, to make them easy to find and organiza in our working folders. The correct filename scheme is always detailed in the first post of every project. In this case, it should be memorabilia_24_xenophon_128kb.mp3. Again, just rename the file when exporting, and it should be fine.

But that is all. :D The recording itself is quite clean and easy to follow. You might want to turn the volume up a bit too, it is more on the low side (but within the accepted range, so that is just a suggestion).

Please reupload the file with these corrections.

Best,
Leni

Thanks, since I think it is not urgent anymore, let's wait for our PLer to take a look (or a listen). Also, please let us know the length of the recording. :) I have assigned you the next sections.

Thanks for the advice on friends jenno

One error noted at the end of the recording:

End of book two chapter 5 – it should be end of section 12

Thanks Darren :D
Learn to know yourself better, Charmidas, and take care not to fall into a fault that is almost general; for all men inquire curiously enough into the affairs of others, but they never enter into their own bosoms to examine themselves as they ought.

Hello, phamisithe222 , and welcome to LibriVox.

Since this would be your first section with us, we strongly suggest that before doing the section you try the 1-minute test, as explained here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Also, as explained on the first post of every project thread, before I can assign you a section, I need to know under what name or pseudonym you would like to appear in our catalog. Thanks!
