Section 38 PL notes:
End silence needs shortened a little as it's currently 6.6 seconds.

Section 39 PL OK

I found these sections interesting! It brought back memories of the Shetland pony we had when I was a child. :)

I even re-recorded a few sentences before submitting here because I heard some background noises. (The Living Animals of my World were scratching themselves in the "studio"...) I made the second round of sentences sound as close to the first as I know how to. Let me know if anything is off!
PL OK :)

Sounds good to me! By the way, have you ever been spit at by a llama? I have, and it's pretty nasty! :|

Glad the recording is all right.

That experience doesn't sound very pleasant! For humans to have lived with them for so long with all of their spitting and (according to this section) vindictiveness, llamas and camels must be pretty special. I will admit to having a learned a lot by reading this, never having seen an example of any member of "the camel tribe" up close.

Let me know if i messed something up and I will work on getting it fixed ASAP, thanks!
Hi there! You did a fine job of reading this. :) Just a little to fix up, then hopefully it'll be good to go.

PL notes:
•Volume is at 82.3 dB. Rather than amplifying, I'd suggest running compressor on the entire file, checking only the box 'Compress based on peaks'. This should bring the low parts up and get your overall volume into range.
•End silence needs to be lengthened a little. (Currently it's 4.3 seconds)
•There seems to be some tapping or something in the background. ~2:10-2:12 is a sample of what I noticed. I would suggest figuring out where that's coming from if possible so as to be able to avoid it for future recordings. But I don't know if anything can be done to eliminate them from this file.

Let me know if you run into any issues! Thanks,

First of all I need to apologize for taking so much time in getting back to you about this!

Technical aspect that still needs fixed:
•Volume is at 92.8 dB, amplify -3.8

Actual reading:
•There are quite a few repeats that could use snipping. Have you figured out how to zoom in on specific sections of the sound file to do this? I don't require all of the repeats and stumbles to be edited out if you're satisfied with where it's at, but I do want to give you the opportunity to improve the end quality of this. I'll give you a few places to check out and see what you can do. The last is the most important to be fixed, as I see it. I did hear more than these, but I won’t put those on your list unless you feel ready to deal with them all.

~1:55 & 2:06 - two stumbles, "...and in older specimens to a very nark dark chestnut. Old bulls and occasionally old cows grow extremely dark with age, and at a distance appear almost black upon the back of and shoulders."
~3:46 stumble, "...in the forests of the North Kalahari, South Africa,"
~5:25 stumble, "The hoofs are large, elongate, nearly 12 inches in length in the case of old bulls, and look like those of gigantic ta, cattle."
~11:33 stumble, "Readers of "The Living Animals of the World" are in all probability readers of newspapers, and it would therefore fore be affectation on the part of the writer of these lines..."

(Words in bold are extras, underlined words belong but have stumbles.)

**About the background hum, I’m curious if you had noise elimination turned on while recording? Because that only eliminates noise while you’re not speaking, which leaves you no noise sample at the ends to use for noise cleaning for where you are speaking. Don’t worry about re-recording for this file, but I’d definitely suggest making sure that is not activated for future recordings.**
I did the best I could without having to re-record. Please let me know if this is not satisfactory or if I need to re-record I'm pretty sure I don't have any noise elimination turned on so not sure why it's like that.

PL Notes:
*Volume is still too high... Are you using Audacity? Go to 'Effect', then select 'Amplify'. In the top box enter -5.6, then hit OK. That should get the desired 89 dB on the dot.

*End silence is now ~6.7 seconds. To check the length in Audacity, I like setting it so that I see the 'length of selection' in the last box on the bottom. (In case that's something you haven't yet discovered. :)) And it's true that it doesn't have to be exact on the 5 seconds, but we like to have it within half a second or so.

By the way, do you have 'Checker' already? Checker is such a handy tool that I think it's pretty much a must for all LVers! :) Just in case you don't have it, here's a link to the wiki page that talks about it and has a link to the developer's website where you can download it. (It's virus free! ) https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker

Please feel free to reach out to me or Leni via PM if you need help with this! I feel bad for giving you more notes, but hopefully these instructions and tips can help- even in the long run.

Have a blessed weekend!
Hello,

I was pretty sure I fixed all of this but it didn't say PL OK in the box so wanted to make sure there wan't something I was missing. I downloaded the checker and it says it's at 89.4db and I fixed the length at the end and it looks like it's right around 5 seconds. Let me know if I'm missing something else. Thank you!

Here is the edited version. I added the compressor and added some more silence at the end. I think the clicking is my keyboard when I would start and stop recording, I tried to edit some of them out, but I wasn't able to get them all.
Thanks! Let me know again if I need to do some more tuning and I'll get to it!
