I would be happy to take on Section 9 (Une Fois Encore).

Pascendi looks interesting, being Pius' most famous encyclical, but it is quite a big document.

Have you ever thought of recording this one:

Hi Algy,

9 is all yours ~ thank you!

Yes, I would like to do the Quanta Cura and the Syllabus of Errors at some point. I was going to say we probably couldn't use that source, but then I noticed it says on page three that the translation is from 1870, so it would probably be okay. If not, I did find this one here: https://archive.org/stream/theyearofprep00vauguoft#page/n11/mode/2up

My plan is hopefully to do projects of all the different pope's encyclicals if I can find them in usable translations. I thought starting with Pope Saint Pius X would be a good place, since there are not a huge number of them!

Yep, Pascendi is a long one - over 22,000 words!

Another idea that occurred to me was a bilingual collection of the encyclicals of Pope Leo Xlll. As he was considered one of the finest Latin scholars of his generation, it would be interesting to have the letters presented in both languages.

That is a nice idea, but at this point I think that personally I would like to stick to just the English translations ~ but maybe in the future! Feel free to BC it yourself if you would like! :-)

I am ready to take on Pascendi (Sections 10 through 12) - if that is OK.

Cheers

I noticed that the title of Pascendi in the English text is "On the Errors of the Modernists."

Thanks, Algy. I've changed the MW to reflect that.

I'm not sure where I got the English translation with "doctrines" from - either from wiki, which I was using as a reference when figuring out how many encyclicals there were (they actually list one too many titles), or from another text source that wasn't as easy to read (smaller print) - and in the end I decided to go with this one. :-)
