My God but almost all of those expeditions would have been incredibly dangerous and difficult, given the harsh and arid country and the lack of water. Their names are commemorated in various spots... Even today, one travels across most of those regions with great care, good equipment and very careful preparation (except for the odd ignorant and sometimes unfortunate tourist).

Hi Jane - that was an excellent reading! It is almost PL OK. At the very end, all you need to say is "End of Section [Number]" and then if you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]". Please remove the book name - that is only read after the last Chapter with the authors name.

Many thanks!

Thank you :)
Hi there! I was unable to PL your section tonight as there is a volume issue with it. The volume falls outside of the target range (86–92 dB). Your volume is 60.2 dB and we aim for 89 dB. So it is way too low for me to listen to it at normal levels. Please work at increasing your volume level through Audacity - try Effect > Amplify and see if you can get it closer to 89 dB and then re-upload and post the link and time and I will give it another try :)

Sorry for getting that wrong! Have been reading a lot of different sections and obviously stuffed up.
I’ll fix it in the next couple of days, and reupload of course. Then I’ll get on to the other chapter.

Here is section 27

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/australiaandnewzealand_27_sutherland_128kb.mp3

duration 31.25

I have to say I am not really happy with my recording of this chapter. I have been unable to obtain good information on the pronunciation of Maori words and fell that some of them are very incorrect.

Do you have any suggestions as to where or who I could ask before you incorporate this section into the book ??
I would be much happier if I could d revise it with some expert input !!

Cheers

Thanks for the section!

I have no idea about pronunciation, either. About all I could offer would be a web search, which you've probably tried already. Perhaps someone reading this thread will chime in with resources or suggestions.

Not so many difficult words in this one !!

Yes I have done a web search for pronunciation of Maori words. Some help from a dictionary but it does not list many of the words . I hope maybe some one will read this and offer help. Otherwise I think we can do no more !!

Cheers

I'm not far away from that part of the world, and could ask among friends to see if anyone can help. Can't promise, but you never know who may know someone.
I imagine it's the placenames mostly, such as Wairau, Rauparaha etc?

Hi Jennifer - I am going to PL your Chapter 27 - I will let you know if any of the words seem off to me. I have both traveled and worked in New Zealand so I do understand some of the pronunciations.

Oh Thank you Lynda!

I will appreciate some knowledgeable feed back and will be happy to revise if you feel it is necessary.

I may not be able to do so quickly as as I have to go into hospital on the 298th October for about a week. So do not worry if you do not hear from me. I can get emails whilst I am there but of course cannot do any revisions until I get home.

Cheers
