Hi MaryAnn, I'm returning after a long break with this Wodehouse chapter. See if I remember how to do it.

Thanks! That was a long one! It’s in the MW for checking but there’s another long chapter before it so you might need to wait a bit.

Great reading! PL OK with the possible exception of the too short silence at the very opening. Would you mind adding another bit to it? It's a small thing, I know, and a bother, but we like to have the silence at least one-half second. One second is ideal.

I added to the quiet time at the beginning, now .93 second. Please note that the recording now is 41:04

Ach! I just saw the note that the P in Psmith is silent!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!!! That’s a bit of editing that will keep me busy .
... thank goodness we’re digital now and not slicing tape like the olden days

The silent 'P' just doesn't come naturally, even though the home page explains how it should be; I was lucky to only have to replace/remove it in the first few paragraphs. Maybe Audacity should have a search and replace??

PL OK! Wonderful reading.

First there was the Efficient Baxter. Now we have the Talented Jude!

well, I appreciate the ‘talented Jude’ compliment, but haven’t really earned it until I re-post Chapter 10 and 11 with the substituted “Smith” for every “Psmith”. Working on a system now that should make the process efficient (and less painful).

I would confer with the MC to see if this is necessary. I will be happy to listen again for the corrections, but technically the PL level is standard. Then again, the issue was highlighted.

Let me know what's decided and, if the changes are desired, I'll help as I can.

Okey doke ... here is the first corrected version. This is Chapter Ten with 'Smith' not "Psmith' in the audio (length 1:03:10)

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/leaveittopsmith_10_wodehouse_128kb.mp3

Figured out an edit system that makes the replacements not onerous at all. Chapter 11 should be ready this week too.

cheers

For Chapter 11, please mark down where you make changes. This will save me from listening to the whole recording. (Not that you are not talented... but...)

I opened the Gutenberg text and scanned for Psmiths to replace.

Yes, I understand. Good thinking! But this doesn't save me from listening to everything. I don't mind a spot check at all. Listening to the full run, however, is quite a lot for me because of my other responsibilities.

Don't worry about the completed chapter, though. I will happily manage.
