I just had a mini-seminar (self-directed, of course) in Icelandic pronunciations! (I got a B minus)

well the names sounded all very convincing to me, at least really exotic. B minus is definitely not a fair number for this feat. Loved it. Excellent narration, Devorah, thank you so much. Looking forward to the next sections. PL ok for this one.mightyfelix wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2019, 5:36 pmI just had a mini-seminar (self-directed, of course) in Icelandic pronunciations! Announcement to all: since I haven't heard back from the reader, I will proceed to orphan sections 82 and 83 now. If anybody is interested, now is your chance to read all about Eric the Red and Greenland.
Sonia
Sounds like something I’d like to know about, so I will claim the two freed sections.

what an interesting concept that the king is elevated by the people and supported by them. Quite democratic in a way. Excellent little tid-bit, thank you so much, Alan. PL ok again.alanmapstone wrote: ↑October 5th, 2019, 9:24 am Section 30 - Swedish Kings (time 2:18)

If our kings were elevated by the people I am not sure if Prince Charles would ever get to be king. We might end up with Boris Johnson as kingKitty wrote: ↑October 5th, 2019, 9:53 amwhat an interesting concept that the king is elevated by the people and supported by them. wow this was a tragic and sad story but beautifully narrated, Kathrine, thank you so much. And I loved the pronunciation on these rather difficult names, do you know any Icelandic by any chance ? It sounds quite genuine.kathrinee wrote: ↑October 10th, 2019, 9:11 pm Section 74 https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume8_074_tappan_128kb.mp3 (12:58). Thank you!
