Here is a link that tells you how to record and submit your one minute sample test to get started as a reader on librivox. The one minute test reading is designed to help you figure out the librivox preferred parameters and help you get your recording equipment set up to librivox standards so recordings submitted are as uniform as possible given the variety of volunteers on librivox.

WELCOME!! I am excited to add you to our list of readers for this work!

https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Here is the link to the one minute test I recorded: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=85575
Awesome!! Looks like you just need to tweak a few things:
  • The bit rate should be 128 kbps. When you export the file change ‘quality’ to 128kbps.
The sampling rate should be 44.1 kHz (44,100 Hz).
The volume is 82dB which is too low. We aim for between 86-92 dB but ideally we would like it to be at 89 dB.
And remove a little background noise
The Checker program is good to run a file through before uploading. It will check the preferred specs for you and flags the specs that are not quite in line with Librivox standards.
https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/

The process of editing your file is very similar to how it will work when you start submitting your work. Librivox volunteers work together. When you submit your work, there will be someone that "proof listens" and you will work together with a listener to tweak any errors in the reading and in the specs. It is a learning curve but once you start doing it, it starts to make sense.
Kind Regards!
CJ

I'll do 23 & 25. I notice 24 hasn't been assigned in MW, though the last post seems to show it's claimed?

I asked my librarian about the noise, and she said, "no one would come here
if they weren't allowed to talk out loud." So I read out loud.

Thank you, I have added your name to the mw. Carterohline has requested 24 as soon as the one minute test is edited and name is added to the reader's database, I can get the mw filled in. :)
Kind Regards!

that was taxing! I won't do 25 until I hear back. Was unsure how to handle notes, but read them as I would were I reading to myself. Don't speak Greek, so dealt with that subtly!

Hello, Kaitybg7

Wow, what a difficult text...

I've volunteered to PL one section of the project and have a couple notes on Section 14, England, Part 1

At around 0:26 I seem to hear "Quatrain 59", while the text says" Quatrain 57".

Also, there are some pauses that you might perhaps wish to consider:

~ 17:03, after "here"

~ 24:01, after "Fascioletti shows"

~ 34:55 to 34:58, after "and forgot"

Great reading!

Actually, I had volunteered to PL one section  ... but given that we're all expected to march to the finish line I think I can contribute some more! :D.

I can be DPL in the understanding that I have several other projects going, too, so I might not always be able to listen on the same day an audio file is uploaded.

 :D
