Hi and welcome to Librivox!
Thank you. I'll take a listen in a while.Horner94 wrote: ↑May 28th, 2019, 6:10 pmMay I claim section 8?
*Now I am sending you this unofficially because with some of my other recording there seems to be an issue with background noise (humming), and I just wanted you to let me know if you can hear this too. If you do, or do not hear it, let me know.
Please review audio recording for section 8: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/friendlyfive_08_hungerford_128kb.mp3 Time: 08:48
I have been warned about sending audio recordings before I have been accepted for a chapter, but seeing that nobody has claimed this chapter I thought it was less risky, but that being said I look forward to hearing back from you, and If this chapter has been claimed you may ignore this audio recording and message. I just want to reassure me if you can hear humming in the background. Thank you for your understanding.
I look forward to hearing back form you
Kind regards,
Chad
I appreciate your feedback. I amplified the volume and converted to mono.Lynnet wrote: ↑May 29th, 2019, 9:31 amPL notes Ch 8:
The first thing I notice is that the file is in stereo. This is an easy fix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ-Nq-os2YI
I did not notice any hum or noise that was distracting. However, when I ran the file through Checker, it showed as 40.7dB, which some DPLs would flag. Although we have no actual numerical goal for noise, I tend to find 25-30 dB is about right. Here, I wouldn't worry about it, though.
The volume is a little on the low side, but within the acceptable range, coming in at 86.5dB. We have a goal of 89dB, but can usually work with 86-92dB.
Once the file is converted to mono, this will be PLOK, but you might want to tweak your settings a bit more next time. You're close, but not quite hitting it yet![]()
It is now PL OK... but be warned, increasing the volume also increases any background noise.Horner94 wrote: ↑May 29th, 2019, 9:43 amI appreciate your feedback. I amplified the volume and converted to mono.Lynnet wrote: ↑May 29th, 2019, 9:31 amPL notes Ch 8:
