P.S. May I claim a few tree stories? 48, 51, 52, and 57? Thanks!

Here are chapters 4 and 5:
Again, David. Well read! (If you have a Japanese/English pronunciation source, I would very much like to know of it! I may record a section or two of this book, and it would be help.) *Smile*

The notes that I have for you are all related to technical/sound issues.
Please do not be discouraged. Editing is THE most difficult part of recording and almost all of us suffer a little in the beginning while learning. Fortunately, it's usually a quick jump to vast improvement!

Section 4

4:24 and 5:01
a shuffling and then a *Click*

7:40 a chu-chu-chu sound. (This may well be due to overly "noise reducing" which creates flickers of silence and then picks the noise back up, creating a "looping" effect.
One tip to correct if using Audacity: you can find a piece of "clean" pause of same length, copy and paste.)

Spirit voice is especially well done!

10:42 Shuffling papers

12:08 a slight *thump*

I read from the computer screen, but I've heard several people say that a large readers stand helps them avoid the shuffling when using hard copy.
I suspect it takes quite some practice, regardless.
(AMAZING how much a mic picks up, isn't it? *Smile* ... and *GROAN* at myself!)

Section 5

2:37 Shuffling

I enjoyed this: "thought that he had (to put it in
vulgar English) * a real good thing"

8:01 *click*

I will happily spot PL this and am looking forward to your other readings on trees!

As always, let us know if you have questions. We'll help. *Smile*

Hoping someone can help with this -- I'm planning to read section 36 "A Stormy Night's Tragedy" and just noticed that on the last page there are characters written and I'm not sure how to read it.

It's on page 230 of the book. I've taken Japanese in the past so pronouncing isn't the problem, I just don't know how to pronounce the kanji.

Alternately, I could just read it as "...a little grave with a tombstone over it and characters written thereon."

Thanks,
Colleen

Section 37 is very fluidly read, Colleen, and All PL Okay!

I'm sorry to not have an answer for you on reading kanji.
I can only say that the author must have been showing off, to conceal critical information. *Smile*
Carolin is likely to have better solutions than would I, but it sounds as if you have at least one workable fix for the issue.

Hi larry, two things:

1. I need you to decide on one forum account. Please let me know which one you want to use and i will deactivate the other.

2. We ask readers to complete the one minute test before getting started. Please repost your test recording in listeners wanted and wait for feedback. If any edits need to be made, make those and wait for your ok before getting started on the section for this project. This is in case any edits are needed - you will have to fix the same issues in your section too, and it would be better if you did these before uploading.

Thank you! :)

Hiya, thanks for asking! I think since the translation is right in the following sentence, id treat the characters as an illustration and skip it. I believe thats how this was meant too. So best to read it in the way you suggested above  thank you!
