Section 7 is PL OK, thanks for another great read.

While I was listening to this section and all the discussion about computer modeling I kept thinking of the differences in computer power between 1975 and today. Those guys did well with the resources they had at hand.

I've reached the limit of my attention span for the evening - I'm planning to move on to section 8 tomorrow.

Hi Warren -

at about 0:59 you read "both the short-term and long-term phases" - the text says "both the short-range and long-range phases"
This doesn't change the meaning in any way, nor does it affect understandability, so I recommend leaving it as-is.

Everything else is word-for-word perfect. This section is PL OK. Thanks for your major contribution to this book.

I'll mark the Magic Window next.

P.S. to Warren -

When I PL a section I have Audacity show me the frequency analysis of the recording - and in your chapters I see a dramatic drop in any content below 100 Hz. I assume you're using a really aggressive low-cut filter as a part of your editing process. Whatever you're doing it works; you've eliminated any power supply hummm, typical home rumblings, passing freight trains, etc. without taking anything away from your voice.

I've used some gentle low-cut filtering in the few LibriVox chapters I've read. After listening to your chapters, I think I'm ready to use more ...um... assertive settings.

Thanks again for the sections.

Thank you very much, both of you!

I guess it's time to get my own recording done here as well...

Rich,

Thanks for your great PL ear! With regard to the frequency cut-off, I use an equalization cut-off for frequencies below ~100 Hz. That was a suggestion from one of the ACX training videos. It does make for a quiet noise floor and you are right, I don't think that it changes the character of my voice very much.

These sections were long, but I had fun reading them.

Of course, thank you! :D

The appendices here are quite heavy on the sciency stuff. If you have questions, just let me know!

I've made a start, and so far, so good. One question: do you want me to read the (long list of) references at the end of the appendix?

You can skip the references. I didn't read them either, and we can say they were more like footnotes anyway
