[COMPLETE] Troilus and Cressida by William Shakespeare - kit
here is my version of Patroclus. I was pondering a bit how to do him. I didn't want to effeminate and camp him up, despite considering his relation to Achilles I see him more as the guy who would pump in the gym and give himself very mocking and manly, so nobody would get any wrong ideas about his virility. So he's quite gruff with the others, especially this Thersites-guy... but he has his moment of tenderness with Achilles in the tent, where he lets his soft side out. Tomas, I hope you like this portrayal. I guess you will give your Achilles a sort of same spin.
Well in any case, here's Patroclus:

oh wonderful, Craig, thank you so you started with one of your bigger roles, contrary to me, I first had the small ones out of the way. Your Pandarus is exactly like I thought he would be, a sort of slimy pimp and meddler Brilliant how you did him. All PL ok.Craigos wrote: ↑August 13th, 2018, 9:31 am https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/troilusandcressida_dp_craig.mp3 1:04

I see you gave us two versions for Helenus, I think we will go with the same stress as in Helena, if I'm not mistaken. But thanks for the option.
A good start

Got my part of the DP done, as well as all my shorties! A lot of one-liners, which is good considering how lengthy my main parts are.

Thank you, Sonia! I like your take on him, which is more even-tempered than I expect most play him. While reading the play, I imagined him being aggressive towards Thersites, but I like that your interpretation has him regarding Thersites with cool ridicule and scorn. His interactions with Achilles are really well-done, too. You can definitely sense the tenderness, and I will try my best to mirror that in my performance.Kitty wrote: ↑August 13th, 2018, 6:10 am here is my version of Patroclus. PL OK, no doubt. Two roles left to go!

well I based my interpreatation more on the private scene he had with Achilles. He seems not to like fighting too much, so I thought all the aggression was more play because it was expected of him. Yes, of course he is angry by Thersites, but he probably can control that anger so he won't lose his temper too much.WiltedScribe wrote: ↑August 13th, 2018, 4:33 pmI like your take on him, which is more even-tempered than I expect most play him. I'm working on Aeneas next.... stay tuned.
Will also PL your sections today. Thanks
Sonia
so here is Aeneas. I gave him my distinctive "raspy" voice, usually reserved for my villains but since I don't seem to have a real villain role here, I can use it for him. It gives him an air of authority in the things he says. He seems like a dutiful, no-nonsense guy. After all, he is going to be the founding father of Rome.

Tomas, I already assembled the DP since all the voice credits are in already. I noticed that Antenor was mentioned, so I checked the text once more for speeches, and even though he doesn't have a solo line, he is present in the final scene, where they all say "Hector, the gods forbid !" In order not to have to wait, I quickly claimed the role for myself recorded the line with a voice different from raspy Aeneas and so you can make the voice chorus a bit more fleshed out. I also inserted a voice credit for myself then. Now I'm wondering if we ever get feedback by people who will ask themselves what Antenor had to say not noticing my voice in the chorus.
I'll insert a new section for Antenor in 5.10.
EDIT: oh, wait, I just noticed that Brad is not included in the final Scene at all ! Maybe in that case he could join his voice as Antenor, so we will have our 4 voices there after all.
Brad: would you mind doing this one line and the voice credit:
for Antenor_5_10: "Hector! The gods forbid!"
for the voice credit: "Antenor, a Troyan commander, read by Brad"
so the cast list will be corrected as well for that line, hold off from PLing, for the time being:

ok, just checked them all and they are all PL ok. A good start. Troilus' boy is very young still, it seemsWiltedScribe wrote: ↑August 13th, 2018, 3:43 pmGot my part of the DP done, as well as all my shorties! A lot of one-liners, which is good considering how lengthy my main parts are.
My favourite here was Calchas, even though he is quite a nasty character. A bit of a coward to desert Troy, and a traitor to plot together with the Greeks. You give him an adequate voice. I still find it a bit unrealistic that the Greeks would exchange such an obvious asset as Antenor for a woman, when Calchas even mentions that the Trojans would be prepared to exchange a prince for him.
Sonia
Antenor, and all of Diomedes.

Most of Diomedes is just one or two lines per scene, except for his scene alone with Cressida. So most of these files are very short. I see Diomedes as a teenage boy who can't control his libido. He sees Cressida for the first time and has only one thing on his mind from that point on.
