Sorry for the delay on section 1. I caught a cold a few days ago.
Hi BurgundyGrace!BurgundyGrace wrote: ↑October 16th, 2018, 10:54 am Here we have chapter 15: The Key to the Henhouse:
https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/storieswithouttears_15_pain_128kb.mp3 with time: 30.24
As always, thanks for the listen and other coordinations!
Sorry for the delay in PL'ing this - I was confused and thought this was one of mine that I am waiting to have PL'd by Carolin!
Here are your notes -
2:06 – said “took” should be “put” my handkerchief
2:47 – missing “own” in “about my …. age”
6:36 – said “I asked” should be “I said”
7:06 – said “moments” should be “after a few minutes”
8:43 – said “no more than she” should be “no more did she”
12:12 – said “And he did” should be “And so he did”
20:56 – said “…directly AFTER the…” where the sentence should be as written “she left directly the service was over”
23:10 – said “around” should be “sneaking about here”
Other than that you are really expressive when you read and it is a pleasure to listen to your recordings!

BurgundyGrace - no that was not Word Perfect PL that I did. I just mentioned the ones that in my impression made a difference in the listening to the Chapter and the understanding of it. For example, "asked" and "said" are different words. "Moments" and "minutes" are also different.BurgundyGrace wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2018, 8:55 pm Here is re-load of 15, so that it is to Word Perfect Proof-listening standards:

There were other words that I left as they did not matter to the interpretation of the passage.

Thank you both so much
Note that this rule is not always interpreted in strictly the same way. Our experienced dpls are often stricter with experienced readers than with newbies, stricter with repeat offenders, stricter in poetry than in prose, stricter in religious texts than in a romance novel, etc etc. It requires a lot of "fingertip feeling".
I guess the rule of thumb for dpls in standard pl is to note doen everything that makes you go "huh?" while listening, and in the same way a rule of thumb for readers would be to consider optional pl notes that make you go "huh?".
Does that make sense?
The standard pl main rule is to let small mistakes like most of the ones noted for this section go, unless the change of words changes the meaning of the text. What changes the meaning is up to interpretation, however. Any sentence can be read in widely different ways by different people. But this also means that pl notes concerning small things can be considered optional by readers. If you are not sure whether you have to make a change, let your bc know.Lmnei wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2018, 9:39 pm BurgundyGrace - no that was not Word Perfect PL that I did. Thank you for the clarification, Carolin.
My understanding is as you write here, based on a reading of the forum information regarding different PL levels.
I DPL for additions, repeats, long pauses, abrupt beginnings, omissions ... and for words that are obviously mispronounced/misused, leading to material change of the sentence.
I made the changes here this time, as I had a few minutes in which to do so.
Now, on to my next recording.
Best,
