Section 11: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_11_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 11:43

Section 12: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_12_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 9:23

Section 13: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_13_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 9:49

I have finished recording section 14 and will upload it when I finish editing it (or re-recording it... it ended up coming out pretty low quality).

Could I get sections 15-17?

Thanks so much!

P.S. I'm running out of space and will have to delete the raw unedited and non-noisecleaned mp3 files of my recordings pretty soon. If the DPL doesn't listen by tomorrow, I'll have to delete the originals and my submissions will need to be accepted as-is or rejected altogether (with the exception of minor edits... but if the DPL wants me to undo noisecleaning for example, that will be impossible at that point).

May I please read all of the Fourth Commandment (Sections 24-30)?

Okay, i've updated the MW.

I've heard from our DPL, say they had new laptop and would be back to DPL duties soon.
If I have time, I'll PL a few sections in the mean time.

I have saved everything I've done on LV for the last five years, and it is a lot, but text and mp3 files don't take up a huge amount of memory. You can always save to the cloud, SC card, external drive or whatever. But if you need to delete your files, don't worry. If you need to make edits, even noise cleaning or amplification, you can download the file that you uploaded.

This project has had a much faster start than I anticipated, so please be patient while we try to keep up. We all have different schedules and amounts of available time, but it will all get done.

The cloud! Great idea. Why didn't I think about that? I now have space again to make more recordings :).

Prince Caspian,

I have listened to Section 2, and it is fine except that the volume is two low. Amplify by about 2.5 dB and you'll be fine.

Section 12 is also too low although I have not listened to it yet.

From my early post to another reader:

There are two programs that I use to check volume, since Audacity doesn't directly give a read out in dB.

The first is Checker, a small program that was written specifically for LV. Drag a file into it, and it checks not only volume, but other LV pecs. Your can find it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker

I use Checker mainly when I proof listen. To check the files in Audacity before I export, I use an Audacity plug-in called ReplayGain. Once it is installed, it is simple to run it from the Analyze menu, and you get a read-out indicating how many dBs to amplify, either up or down. Then use the Amplify feature in Audacity to do that. Here is a link to this handy tool: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity

Hope these help.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review my uploads. I know that I'm still new to this and I was just afraid that I was going to make ten recordings and find out that I needed to redo all of them. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this :).

I fixed section 2: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_02_luther_128kb.mp3
And section 12: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_12_luther_128kb.mp3

And I finished editing section 14: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_14_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 13:19

Section 15: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_15_luther_128kb.mp3
Lemgth: 9:25

Section 16: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_16_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 8:09

I have recorded section 17 and will upload it when I finish editing.

Could I finish up the third commandment? (Sections 18-23)

Thanks!

Okay, thanks.

I've updated the MW to reflect the above.
I'm marking Section 2 PL OK, but it is barely within our acceptable range. Our LV target is 89 dB with a range of 86-92 dB, and this comes in at just 86.1 dB and Section 12 at 86.4, as measure in Checker. I would really recommend using Checker and ReplayGain to check your volume before uploading. Amplification is a simple step, and one the I routinely do on all my recordings.

You have improved so much since your first recording -- no clicks, fewer heavy breath sounds an plosives. And, you have a nice, easy reading style that is pleasant to listen to.

Here are some notes on Section 3.

-- Could you add at the end, the signature: "M. REU. WARTBURG SEMINARY, DUBUQUE, IOWA."

Normally we don't comment on pronunciation with standard PL, and I'm certainly not a fanatic, esp when it comes to foreign names, but we do try to be as accurate as we can. But, one just jumped out at me, even not looking at the text, and that was near the end at about 6:06 your name sake, "Melanchthon." His name is so well-know that it was striking. Sounds as if you left out syllables or something. I would recommend this site for pronunciation. You will see that there are variations (The first one is the one I hear most often). https://www.howtopronounce.com/melanchthon/ Similarly, the name in the next sentence, "Mathesius" sounds to me like "Matthias," but may be okay. The above site has a wide range for that name.

Because of Standard PL criteria, I won't insist on corrections, and leave it up to you. But, please do add the missing ending.

Thanks so much for your encouragement!

In future recordings, I'll try to amplify them to 89 dB. I was using the Checker program and gradually amplified my mp3's until they passed because Audacity kept warning me about clipping and I was concerned about over-amplifying. But I went back and listened to my files and didn't hear any problems, even though I had supposedly amplified it beyond the "safe" range that Audacity gave me.

Here's sections 17 and 18:

Section 17: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_17_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 7:38

Section 18: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/goodworks_18_luther_128kb.mp3
Length: 8:17

I fixed section 3 by rerecording a sentence and splicing it in. I uploaded it but then I was listening to it again and I'm rethinking it because it didn't sound super good... I'll see if I have time to rerecord the whole thing and upload it later.

EDIT: I woke up hoarse this morning... I need to take a break from recording :(. Is there anything you do to protect your voice when recording a lot? If all the sections get claimed before I post again, feel free to give away my sections because I don't want to halt progress. But hopefully I'll be better and back to recording in a few days. We'll see :)
