Hiya, it might be a good idea to redo the test recording, or to post in need help got advice with a sample
Hi, Nishtha.

I didn't see a post over in the need help board, so I'll respond here. I'm not sure whether your file level is over/under the target...so I'll start with the least complicated way to "fix" this and if it works, then I'll save the more complicated for another time. I assume you've used the Checker software so you know the sound level of your recording. (If you haven't used the checker, its a free download available in the Wiki. I can give you a link if you need it).

Simple way #1: Highlight the entire vocal track of your file. Go to the Effects Menu in Audacity and Click on Amplify. A window will pop open and there will be a box next to the word "Amplification (dB). In the box will be a number. That number is the maximum value that you can increase your sound without producing clipping. You should know a number to type in the box. You know that the target for Librivox recordings is 89 dB (with a low range of 86.5 dB and an upper range of 92 dB). So, lets say your file checked in at 85.5 dB. (To be at the 89 dB target, you would need to add 3.5 dB to your Amplification. So type in 3.5 into the box and hit ok. Then re-export your file to mp3 and re-upload it here. If your file was too loud, say 93.5 dB you would type in -4.5 in the box in the Amplify effect (because you need to reduce the level of the file by that much.)

If , in the first example, the number in the box is 2, you cannot input 3.5 without clipping (a bad thing). Just type in 2 and your file will still amplify within the acceptable range for Librivox, even though it will only be at 87.5 dB.

I hope this helps. There are other more complicated ways to achieve this and other helps in Audacity to get you there. But if this we'll do it, then that's great.

Many thanks,

Philip

You are a life saver. Thank you so much! :D

This completes my 4 poems by M I Brennan. I hope they are ok.

Could you please tell me if I can do multi-files on one reply , and how to do them, as I would find it easier to do it that way. :?:
