Hello. I would like to claim section 8. As this is my first recording, I would like my name to appear as Stefan Von Blon for the LibriVox catalogue. Thank you.

Hello Stefan - welcome to LV! Section 8 is all yours. :)

First, we recommend that you do a 1-minute test recording, just to make sure that your settings are all OK before recording a whole chapter. Instructions for the test recording are here and also in your welcome email.

Post here or PM me if you have any questions!

Hi,

Could I volunteer for Part 16 ('English History in the Secondary School'), please?

BTW, this would be only my second recording, first currently with PL.

Hi there!

I'd like to claim sections 3 and 5. These would be my first recordings. I would like my name to appear as Leah W, if that works.

Thank you!

Hi Leah,
Welcome to LV!

I'll reserve the chapters for your, but we do recommend that you submit a 1-minute test recording, just to make sure that your settings are all OK before recording a whole chapter. Instructions for the test recording are in your welcome email and also here. It's good to post it in the Listeners Wanted forum because the folks who hang out there are much better at giving feedback on the tech stuff.

Post here or PM me if you have any questions!

Here's my first section, section 3 - https://librivox.org/uploads/smijen/historyteachernov1909_03_various_128kb.mp3

The track length is 10:31

It's my first recordings aside from the one-minute test so hopefully it sounds good and the settings are all right.

Hi Leah,

I'm proof-listening now. Your tech specs are mostly OK, but it's fairly quiet (86dB, and we aim for 89dB). You can amplify in Audacity, but for next time you could try increasing the input volume on your mic or positioning yourself closer to the mic. (Just make sure that the mic is slightly above or to the side of your mouth, so your breath doesn't hit it.)

Are you OK with the editing process? I've only listened to the first minute, but there are a few stumbles. The easiest thing to do when you fumble something is to go back to the last natural pause (usually a comma or period) and restart from there. Then it's really easy to snip that part out afterwards. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Editing_Audio
