Very nicely read! Only one small note: missing the beginning silence.RussellEric wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2018, 10:47 am Tale IX, The Coming of Galahad - duration 18:02

Otherwise great, Thank You!
Scotty
Thank you
There is no need for silence at the beginning of the recording. We dont like the silence to be too long, but it can be super short.

Okay. I guess i have always misunderstood point seven, thinking it was asking for between 0.5 and 1.0 seconds of silence. Maybe it should be rewritten to merely say no more than 1 second, in order to remove the ambiguity.
However, a beginning silence (aka room tone) is probably a good idea to ensure proper playback from various players and give listeners an audible cue of the start of the recording. (This is why ACX requires it anyway)

Hi Carolin,
I have just uploaded my first test.
https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_rachelmaguire.mp3
I have used Audacity software, a Windows computer with a USB microphone.
Feedback would be much appreciated to make sure I have everything set up correctly.
Many thanks
Rachel

Thank you rachel! Best to keep your tests in one thread over at listeners wanted. Lynda has noted some small things, which will be easy to fix but really valuable practice thank you!

Excellent reading, Rachel!
I would say Tales 11 and 12 are PL OK, with a couple notes.
The background noise is a touch high, though for me not distractingly so. In future you could try a little, mild noise reduction to see if that helps, though I would avoid too much of it as it can distort voices to a robotic, chirpy mess pretty quickly. Most of the noise sounds like a computer fan, so if you are using an external mic you could try moving it away from the computer and also positioning it a little closer to yourself to maximize the "signal to noise ratio." This may help keeping some of the noise out to begin with. Your excellent reading definitely deserves it!
I don't think it is anything you need to change if you don't want to as it falls under standard PL, but in tale 12 a few words were omitted at ~18:06 minutes (bottom of page 151): "...until he reached the shining levels of the lake."
I wouldn't even have noticed though if I weren't following along with the text, so again, standard PL OK

Here is Section 3: Tale III - How Arthur Won His Sword 'Excalibur', His Bride and His Round Table

I'm very sorry that it has taken me so long to record this. I've lately become much more organized about my recording, so I should have the other section I volunteered for much sooner.
Thank you for your patience!
