OK, I decided to do the infamous eye-plucking 3.7, which is in the MW now. :) I'm planning on doing the rest of Gloucester shortly. So you can either claim 4.1 right now or wait until the other scenes are ready to edit tomorrow.

The end of Gloucester...

...And the beginning of the Fool:

Sonia, I truly hope the Fool is good enough. I play him very passive-aggressively, since he's mad that Lear has made such bad decisions. He's also trying to play the part of a court fool, yet the sour grapes are always on the vine, as it were, so you can tell a lot of it is done out of spite. If you think it should be toned down, I can record the scenes again.

excellent job, all sections PL ok. And that means 4 new scenes are ready to edit again.

no need to re-record, I LOVE your interpretation. I also think that the fool, indeed many court fools have a very mean streak. They hide behind their foolscap to be able to say nasty things all under the disguise of "playing the fool". I never really liked that job, to be honest ;) Being verbally abused by a fool is not my idea of having a good time. I never understood why the kings put up with it.

I also loved the ditties and the whistling. Nice touch  Please continue like that. :)

and a wonderful job on the eye-plucking scene as well. Great pacing here. The quasi-merging of Goneril and Regan's first sentences is cool. 8-)

I'll make a note for myself here:

> at 6:10: "give me thy sword": I said “my” which is plainly wrong, because Regan surely doesn’t have a sword and if she had she would carry it upon her at all times
I’ll re-do that line tonight and re-upload. It will get checked one final time in the assembling of the whole act anyway.

Thanks Tomas

this line has been corrected now and the scene reuploaded. If you like to spot check Tomas, that's fine :) I managed to get back into nasty-Regan-mode

The levels seem to vary quite significantly from file to file, but I can't really detect any major difference in the volumes when listening, so I haven't touched this, apart from some individual amplification when assembling.
Two items I noticed: at 9:59 and 10:32 the narrator adds ["singing"], I'm not sure there is any point in this, it just disturbs the flow as it's made clear in the in the way it's read/sang.

Cheers

yes sometimes I need to do some adjustment with one sentence or the other. If I find something that I don't hear well, I let you know ;)

definitely, when people are actually singing, we can cut the stage directions out. Same as for "laughing" for example.

Stay tuned. Will listen now. Thanks !

Craig, excellent editing job  I think this was your first really big scene, if I'm not mistaken. Very well done. I like your pacing especially for the narrator.

At the very first moment where Goneril speaks right after the Fool, I was in doubt whether you would sound different enough, Tomas. But it was only in that part, later on, it is quite clear who is who.

Oh and yes, I cut out the two [singing] stage directions, they are really not needed. I reupload the file once more and mark it PL ok.

Thanks Craig ! And if you are up for more, don't hesitate to claim ;)

and here is the very short dialogue between Tomas and Tomas, with Brad chiming in the occasional stage direction  If someone wants to PL it:

Recording time: 2:02 min.

And I signed myself up for 5.2. so we can finish one entire act :9:

ok this was another shorty:

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/kinglear_5_2.mp3
Recording time: 1:14 min.

Tomas, if you are PLing this one, could you please download the 3 scenes for Act 5 and paste them in one masterfile ? No need to listen to it all, only to the beginning and end of each scene. But that way you stitch together Act 5 and I can make a final PL for the entire act.

Thanks

All outstanding scenes are PL OK. We're very close now. Maybe we could have this done in less than a week?

I also assembled Act 5, for PL: https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/kinglear_05_shakespeare_128kb.mp3

I think it will be easier if I stitch it all together and Sonia does a final PL. That way she can retain her proof-listening role. :) So that's one down, and more will come once some scenes are edited.
