Of Holy Virginity (De virginitate) by Saint Augustine of Hippo (354 - 430). Translated by Charles John Cornish (1810 - 1870)

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/of-holy-virginity-by-saint-augustine-of-hippo/
"After I had written 'on the Good of Marriage [De bono coniugali],' it was expected that I should write on Holy Virginity [De virginitate]; and I did not delay to do so: and that it is God's gift, and how great a gift, and with what humility to be guarded, so far as I was able I set forth in one volume." ( St. Augustine, Retractions 2:23)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/aselectlibrary03unknuoft#page/416/mode/2up
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This looks like a good project, I will set it up for you. Have you done a solo before? Do you know how to work with the magic window? :D
I took the liberty of adding a tiled to the title to show that we need a proof listener, is that OK?

The bad news is I took the wrong medication today. The good news is that now I'm protected from fleas and ticks for 3 months. .

One short and easy correction for Section 1. At 9:29 there is a repeat of the phrase which begins "But in the flesh..."

Otherwise, nicely read.

Many thanks,

Philip

Section 2:

Another short and easy correction--I think you intended to make this one and just accidentally left it in. From 17:39 to 17:42 there is a section which should have been removed. The phrase repeats at 17:42.

Many thanks,

Philip

Section 3: There are a few minor changes.

AT 13:49 there is an edit which has been left it (it is repeated at 13:52).

At 28:05 there is a phrase that is repeated at 28:07.

At 28:41: I heard "It is lawful not to doubt" : I expected "It is not lawful to doubt"

Editing tip:

Edit this from the last to the first so as to not mess up the time index.

Many thanks,

Philip

Here are the corrections for Section 4:

at 4:19 the phrase "not to repay how much more ought he to love unto whom it hath been" is omitted.

at 7:38 I heard "nuns descend" : I expected "nuns deceased"

at 11:32 there is a phrase which is repeated at 11:34

at 23:12-23:15 there is an edit which was accidentally left in

at 25:45 I heard "You in whom whom" : I expected "You in Him whom"

at 26:37 the Phrase "whereby you are properly called Sanctimoniales" is repeated from 26:40-44.

that's all!

Many thanks,

Philip

The corrections were all seamlessly made and Sections 1,2,3, and 4 are all now PL-Ok!

(I feel like I should be saying something on the order of "Hello, I must be going....") Geremia, thanks so much for the opportunity to PL this project. I hope out paths will cross again. (My "genius" is highly questionable--all I did was pass on what I had learned from someone else).

Phil--always a privilege and a pleasure to work with you.

See you on the boards,

Philip
