Interesting that he talks about a sphere of colours like Munsell does so much later 8-)
Thank you.

Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
You will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run. Please be sure to complete this within 7 days. If you have already done this, I apologize - I didn't see it.
I have added you to the catalog. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will see your own personal catalog page.
I have assigned you section 32 (we use the section numbers in the far left column for identification).
Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.

That is interesting. Reading the two at the same time, you are immersed in color, Ava!
Section 40 is PL OK.

Way too much bureaucratic process for something I won't get paid for. Forget it.

I am deeply sorry we have offended you by insisting on receiving usable files. Or by trying to make sure your contribution can be easily found (and ascribed to you) by any fans you may have, now or in the future.

We do wish you much luck in your further pursuit of the fame and fortune you are looking for.
With your accommodating disposition finding them will be no problem for you at all.
Cheers, Ava.

Thanks Amy!
Thank goodness it is still pretty grey outside here - I would get a sensory overload of color otherwise ;-)
Cheers, Ava.

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_chrisgray.mp3

Audacity, Windows 10, digital recorder.
My speakers/amp must have been too loud on playback - when I amplified the recording it seemed distorted at the time. I'll get any recordings to 89dB or whatever is best. My test is about 87dB.

Hi Chis
Thank you for submitting your test. Just one easily fixed issue. There was a lot of background noise, which is easily addressed in Audacity.

http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Detailed_Audacity_Noise_Removal

It is very common-- in fact, I do noise removal on all my files 8-) Once you've found the correct setting, Audacity remembers it for next time, and it quickly becomes habit. Please play around with that and re-submit your test.

Thank you and congratulations on your first recording  Amy will listen soon and give you notes on suggested edits, so please check back.
For most of us, there is quite a steep learning curve when we start here ("It's just reading, right?" ) but it does get easier -- and addictive.
Feel free to claim other sections, either in this project or any other, while you are waiting for feedback.

Hi Chris,
Well done on your first recording! I proof listened. There are a few updates needed.
1. This section includes the part on minerals (points 613-616) too so this needs to be added before the plant part.
2. They are using Roman numerals. The LI at 0.26 is fifty-one.
3. The page numbers do not need to be read. Please delete these: page 248 at 1:33, page 249 at 2:42, page 250 at 3:56, page 251 at 5:10, page 252 at 6:25.
4. Noise clean the file.
5. Amplify it by 2.6 db.
Please make these updates and resubmit the recording.
If you have any questions about anything, let Lynne and me know.
Cheers!
Amy
