Hi Carolin

Chapter 12 up and ready.

https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/midshipmen_12_kingston_128kb.mp3

21m
22s

Did a little more editing this time, trying to take out some obvious pops and breaths. Wouldn't mind some feedback on the effectiveness of the accents. I like to do them and would have a hard time not putting something in there for the dialogue. But Im a little skeptical if they are decent or not.

Jules,
Welcome back!

I adore Quirk. So glad he made it back to this chapter.

Chapter 5 PL note
Please trim opening silence to less than 1 second.

Ending silence is just a touch long but shouldn’t be an issue.

Hello Tim,
Chapter 12 is PL OK.

Nice work on the characters! Murray at ~13:00 was the only one that caught my ear but I think it was more that it was a difference in volume rather than the accent.

If it were me, I wouldn’t worry too much about breath. As a listener I’m used to hearing it when humans talk. ;) Deleting them also changes your timing. It’s readers preference though so if you prefer not to hear them then delete away.

Thanks Linny I appreciate the feedback!

I hear what u mean about the deleting,it really throws off the natural timing of the delivery. I installed noise gate today (after wrestling with the thing for 3hrs, take off the last .txt from the program name and it works fine who knew ) and it lowers volume on the breathing. Will use that moving forward.

When I was in the navy I had two sailors who decided to bully me, it was a sad occasion for them. They didn't know I was I was in training as a boxer. They certainly regretted their behaviour . They got a little more than our bully in the story.

Hello Jules,
Chapter 6 is PL OK.

Ending silence is 6 seconds. Please try and keep them closer to the 5 second limit.
