Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
You will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run. Please be sure to complete this within 7 days. If you have already done this, well and good.
I will add you to the catalog of readers. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will see your own personal catalog page.
Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.
Lynne

Wonderful reading, Jennifer. I have just four items for your attention:
10:22 - 10:28 repeated phrase (clearly you want to keep the second version)
10:53 - 11:01 a correction you meant to edit
12:48 - 12:50 a correction you meant to edit
45:09 - 45:13 The phrase "The Black Jack, Partsmouth Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields" is actually a caption to a picture and not part of the text. On this project we are omitting captions so this should be deleted.

Thank you!

Very nice reading, Julie. I have two items for your consideration:
05:43 I heard "The Duke of Normandy" and expected "The Duke of Norfolk"
30:37 The outro silence, at almost 14 seconds, is a little long. It should actually be only 10 seconds long (there isn't really any guideline for an acceptable range, but I don't comment on anything between 9 and 11 seconds)
Thank you!

Just for clarification:
The policy on outros was recently changed. On newer projects, you will see 5 seconds for all length projects. This project was started before the new guideline came into effect and I decided for the sake of continuity, to stay with the existing policy.

Thank you for offering but this project has a Dedicated Proof Listener. Tom will listen to all the files as they come in.
If you are looking for a project to listen to, look for those with a tilde (~) before the title. That is Librivox shorthand for not having a DPL. You can look in Readers Wanted: Books (that's probably where you found this project), Readers Wanted: Short Works, Launch Pad or Listeners and Editors Wanted. The Launch Pad is where all new projects start. In Listeners Wanted, you will find projects underway that need a Listener, sometimes because the DPL has had to drop out, or maybe there never was a DPL.

Susan

Welcome and thank you for claiming.
I have added you to the catalog using your forum name and assigned that section to you. I am on the toad at present and unable to offer as much support as I'd like...
Have you completed a one minute test yet?

A couple of things about this section: at over 6000 words, it is quite long -- probably 30 minutes final recording, so assume at least 2 hours to record and edit (probably more if you're new to audio recordings ). I can hold this for 2 months if you want to "cut your teeth" on something shorter :D

Also, as I divided this long chapter into 3 parts and another reader is reading the first 2 parts, you will need to read through the chapter to find the break where you need to begin (it will be a new paragraph, probably 2/3 of the way through or thereabouts).

Please feel free to ask questions, and if I'm not around, I'm sure there will be someone to help (right, Tom? :D  )
Lynne

I just noticed this note; my apologies for the delay. I will be right on it.
