I have just uploaded the recording for part 16. (32:28 min)

Please let me know if it is ok or what I should change. It has been quite challenging for me, as a beginner but quite interesting. If the result is acceptable and the previous part is still open can I have a go on that part also?

All the best!
Simona
Thank you. I have entered your claim, but you might want to wait until Anthony has listened and given feedback. Just a quick point... no big deal but in the file name, you have .mp3 twice... it should only be once :D If there are no edits, I will fix it at my end, but if you do have improvements, please use the correct file name.

PL NOTES:

SECTION 16 - Chapter X part 2

There is only one small issue with this recording. The volume is a little low at 83.6dB and should be between 86-92dB. That's it. Thanks so much!
Anthony

Dear Anthony and dear Lynne,
Thank you for the feedback. I have turned the volume up a bit and re-uploaded the recording. Is it ok now?

It is right on the upper end, but will be just fine  You wouldn't want to amplify any more. When I catalog, I will even out the file volumes, but outside the range 86-92 dB I can't do that.

Thank you, dear Lynne...one question...for you or for Anthony...could you tell me how can I set the right volume because, frankly, I just did that somehow intuitively...I mean, is there a clear specification in Audacity that help you set the exact limits when amplifying the sound?

Hi. This wiki talks about how to use amplify and has a link to normalize. Both can be used to change the volume of your track. I am not really a recording artist so I can not take it to any more detail than that, but if you need guidance on using the tools there are many here that can help, including Lynnet.

Audacity isn't particularly reliable for judging how loud your file is, although it can be used for making adjustments (I always use it). However, the husband of one of our admins created a handy-dandy program for us called Checker. It will tell you the volume (so you know how much to amplify in Audacity) and also a few other important specs (although once you have them set, if you just leave them, you don't have to worry until you get new equipment :) )
It's very easy to use... I run all my files through it as I often fall short on volume. Oh, and it's free and safe.
