  oh my... and why would they rank him among the greatest orators I wonder ? :hmm: Thanks for the warning. I'll try not to fall asleep while listening.

no wonder he got sentenced th death...they probably thought it was the only way to shut him up :|

An excellent performance though, you give it your best to make it intelligible to the audience. Long-winded, he definitely was...Proust probably was a fan of his syntax.

a few small edits to make:

> at 0:41: "died in 1793" - you say "98" - as Robespierre, his major opponent and the one who condemned him to the guillotine, already died in 94 Vergniaud must have died earlier ;)

> at 8:45: p. 122 "the criminal attempts of pontifical ambition" you say "elements" - now this made me chuckle

> from 18:14 to 18:16: between "saved liberty" and "end of section 19" - I would cut the long silence a bit

thanks for plodding through this, Todd

Section 19 fixed and uploaded for Spot PL. Length now 18:23.

Guess it only seemed like it took that long for him to die....

Thanks, Todd

Hello,

Here are links for #49 (10:53) and #51 (5:13):
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/famousorationsvii_49_bryan_128kb.mp3
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/famousorationsvii_51_bryan_128kb.mp3

So, #50 (Castelar)...I have a finished recording (11:51), but it returns a JSON parsing error every time I try to upload it. I've tried re-exporting the MP3, and re-uploading it. The MP3 plays normally on my Windows computer, and I'm using all the same software (Audacity) that I used on the other two in the same session. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bill

thank you for your submission (right in the nick of time ;) ) and the reading was really nice, I enjoyed the listen. Very calm voice and narration, perfect for a eulogy speech.

I have a few small notes for Section 51:

> from 0:35 to 0:37: between "1894" and "born in 1846" – pause feels too long, please cut a bit from the silence, usually maximum 1.5 seconds is enough to make a good break
> at 0:37: (p. 262) could you also include the four lines of biographical sketch please: "born in 1846....(till) London in 1906"
> from 4:47 to 4:50: between "hearts of our people" and "end of section 51" – also here, please cut the silence to under 2 seconds
> from 4:59 to 5:01: between "2022" and "end of the world's famous orations..." – also here the silence could be shorter

I have bad news for section 49 however, I couldn't listen to the recording because the whole narration is doubled, like it's an echo :hmm: As if you recorded it twice within a few seconds apart. Just listen to the beginning and you'll notice it right away and it doesn't stop till the end, I made a few spot checks in the middle. I don't know how this could have happened, but I hope you kept a raw file still, so you don't have to re-record it all from scratch :(

did you wait some time between uploading the first two sections and the last one ? Because this is usually a time-out error. Just log in again and it should work. Maybe you have to delete your cookies before the new log-in takes, but usually it should be good after re-log-in. Could you try again please and let me know ?

thank you, Bill :) excellent edits on 51 and this is PL ok now.

I do have a few notes on the other two sections however:

Section 49:

> volume is just a bit below our accepted limits (86-92 dB). Could you maybe amplify with +2 to get closer to the desired average ?

> from 0:07 to 0:09: between "continental Europe" and "this is": please shorten the pause a bit, over 2 seconds feels to long

> from 0:38 to 0:41: between "1851" and "born in" - also here, over 3 seconds is too long. I always recommend staying under 2 seconds of silence, which for a listener feels very long for the text to continue. Usually between 1 and 1.5 seconds maximum is fully enough even between paragraphs

> at 0:39: (p. 249) you also forgot to include the biographical intro here, from "born in 1802...to...Unites States in 1851"

> from 1:51 to 1:53: (p. 250) between "but thee" and "even here": long pause

> from 10:35 to 10:38: between "victorious liberty" and "end of section 49": long pause

Section 50:

> from 0:38 to 0:40: between "1869" and "born in 1832" - long pause

> at 0:40: (p. 255) please include the biographical sketch start with "born in 1832... till ... President of the executive"

> at 7:41: (p. 259) "or the ship in which the Puritains took the soul of a republic to the bosom of virgin America" - I may be mistaken but I think you say "soil" here :hmm:

> from 11:36 to 11:38: "between "a monarch" and "end of section 50" - long pause

Also, to make things easier for me to update the Magic Window, could you always include the length of the files when you post your links ? Thank you

Great readings, all of them.

excellently read again, quite with fervour.

Only two small corrections please:

> at 0:35: please include the year of the speech "1794" (see MW for full title)
> please also change the filename, the name of the author is "bryan" not "barrere". For some reason you kept making this wrong in this project

thanks
