Hmm, that is very low. How did you amplify? Maybe try "Effect -> Normalize Loudness". Set it to 19 LUFS, and that should bring it up where it needs to be (this assumes you use Audacity).

This was very nicely read. I don't think there's any need to re-record, just a couple of items to correct, and the volume. If the instructions for using Loudness Normalization are not clear, let me know.

0:18 - I hear "Section 11", should be "Chapter 6, Certain Objections, Part 3"
3:06 - missing line "who should meet them on the shores with matted hair and prognathous jaws, and with wild shouts, brandishing their implements of death, "
9:36 - missing line "action in the past, any attempt at change or readaptation on her part has had to overcome greater resistance, and it is the noise

I'd say this is one of the few projects where the presence of different voices could be an asset.

Hi, this was very nicely read, thank you.

There are just a couple of items in the intro/outro.
At 0:19, I hear "Section 12". This should be the section title which is "Chapter 6 Certain Objections Part 4"
24:44 - I hear "End of Woman and Labour". It should be "End of section 12. End of Woman and Labour"

There is a moderate level of background noise. Can you run noise reduction on it, using some of silence at the very end as your "noise profile".

Cheree
Hi Cheree,
Thank you for this recording.

There are a few notes from my PL:

0:00 I hear "Woman and Labor, by Olive Schreiner, section 23", this should be the full opening statement ""Section 10 of Woman and Labour. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org." [Optional: "Read by your name."] "Woman and Labour, by Olive Schreiner. Chapter 6 Certain Objections Part 2."

3:15 - missing line "should render the male objectionable to her, and the woman undesirable to the male; so that the very race "
5:10 - I hear "humanity being served? ", text says "humanity being severed? "
8:10 - I hear " based senent existence", text says " based sentient existence" (sen-tee-ent)
20:52 - I hear "intelligence and virtility ", text says "intelligence and virility "
21:40 - I hear "intelligence and virtility increase", text says "intelligence and virility increase"
22:41 - I hear "growth and mental virtility ", text says "growth and mental virility"
27:31 - I hear "orders of senent life; " - text says "orders of sentientlife; "
33:44 - I hear "who possesses neither virtility , nor charm of person", text says "who possesses neither virility, nor charm of person"
39:31 - I hear "little less than sexual extinction", text says "little less than social extinction"
42:45 - I hear "woman extermining sexual love ", text says "woman exterminating sexual love "
43:08 - I hear " seduction and perhaps by means of wealth ", text says " seduction and purchase by means of wealth "
44:17 - I hear "end of chapter 10". It should be "end of section 10" - since this is actually part of chapter 6 of the book.

From 0-9:40 - there is a lot of background noise. It seems the spaces have been silenced - but there is a lot of noise in behind the speaking throughout this section which is very distracting. You should be able to grab a noise sample around 7:30 (where some spaces were not silenced out) and apply noise reduction to this entire section. From 9:40 on, it is crystal clear, albeit a little too loud (you could de-amplify by about 4 dB)

Thank you Cheree. You did a lovely job cleaning up the noise in the first section. Unfortunately, you seem to have lost a chunk of the recording. This section is missing at 9:00:

in its external forms of expression. When we consider that in the human world, from the battles and dances of savages to the intrigues and entertainments of modern Courts and palaces, the attraction of man and woman for each other has played an unending part; and, that the most fierce ascetic religious enthusiasm through the ages, the flagellations and starvations in endless nunneries and monasteries, have never been able to extirpate nor seriously to weaken for one moment the master dominance of this emotion; that the lowest and most brutal ignorance, and the highest intellectual culture leave mankind, equally, though in different forms, amenable to its mastery; that, whether in the brutal guffaw of sex laughter which rings across the drinking bars of our modern cities, and rises from the comfortable armchairs in fashionable clubs; or in the poet’s dreams, and the noblest conjugal relations of men and women linked together for life, it plays still today on earth the vast part it played when hoary monsters ploughed after each other through Silurian slime, and that still it forms as ever the warp on which in the loom of human life the web is woven, and runs as a thread

10:53 - I hear "and ordained it with zigzag ", text says "and ornamented it with zigzag "

Most of the other changes are great, but these do not appear to be modified (the timestamps have moved though - new timestamps noted below)

8:52 - I hear " based senent existence", text says " based sentient existence" (sen-tee-ent)
20:32 - I hear "intelligence and virtility increase", text says "intelligence and virility increase"
21:32 - I hear "growth and mental virtility ", text says "growth and mental virility"
41:39 - I hear "woman extermining sexual love ", text says "woman exterminating sexual love "

Also, when you update this, please make sure your filename is the same as that requested in the first post. It appears you added a 1 to this update, so when you update again, please make sure that is removed. Thank you.
