These are my notes on 40, let me know if you agree that these parts should be done, and what else I should fix at the same time:
0:20 should be "doffed"; I hear "dothed."
3:20 should be "noise"; I hear "noice"
5:31 I stumble a bit over the words "celestial sheen"
8:35 should be "in vain"; I hear "enveined"

I wouldn't have noticed some of those without your drawing attention to them. Everything else was fine. I would recommend that you fix the problem areas before you submit the item for PL in future. It makes things easier for the DPL. :)

Go ahead and fix those four items and resubmit and I will listen again to those areas.

Section 80 is PL OK. Well done.

Thanks,

M

You did a nice job with your reading of the poem. The only change I have is to drastically cut the length of the silence at 7:23. It is currently about nine seconds long. I would recommend that it be 2 seconds at the most but you can shorten it more.

Thanks,

M

I have just a few comments on the recording.
At about 0:03 please state the poet's name as in the MW "Percy Bysshe Shelley",
please delete over 2 seconds of silence at the end so that it is about 5 seconds in length,

There is a moderate amount of background noise in the recording. You do not need to do anything here, but I would recommend you use some noise reduction on future recordings. I selected the silence at the start and ran through the Noise Reduction feature in Audacity at the following settings Noise reduction 9 dB; Sensitivity 6.00; Frequency smoothing 6; and it really cleaned up the file.

Just fix at least the first two items and resubmit.

Thanks,

M

Nice job. Just a couple of comments.

Please delete about 4 seconds of silence at the start so that it is between 0.5 and 1 second in length,
At 0:05 please delete "the princess"

Most of my comments pertain to the LibriVox specifications.

General comments pertaining to all recordings:
There should be between 0.5 and 1 second of silence at the start and about 5 seconds of silence at the end.
Several of the recordings need noise reduction but all could benefit from it. Let me know if you have questions about this.

49:
please remove at least 0.5 seconds of silence at start
about 0:48 I hear "with", it should be "like" in "like committed linnets"
please delete about 1 second of silence at end
noise reduction necessary as too high

50:
please delete about 1.5 seconds of silence at start
noise reduction necessary as too high

51:
please delete about 3 seconds of silence at start
background noise is acceptable but high, noise reduction recommended

53:
please delete over 2 seconds of silence at start
about 4:27 the end of line after "Of Horror that" is missing, it should read "Of Horror that, and thrilling Fears"
about 5:41 the second "far" is missing in "Beneath the Good how far- but far above the Great"
please delete over 1 second of silence at end
background noise is acceptable but high, noise reduction recommended

54:
please delete around 1 second of silence at start
at about 0:52 and 0:54 text is repeated "Scared at thy frown terrific,"
please delete about 1 second of silence at end
background noise is acceptable but high, noise reduction recommended

Thanks,

M
Thanks so much for saying so! I was a bit nervous, I've never orated poetry before.

And thanks so much for the feedback. I had thought it might have needed to be noise reduced but since it was fine in the Checker, I figured I'd wait for proper feedback on it. I'll make sure to get back on that next time. Anyway, here's all of 'em!

You did a really good job with adding words into the poems. I couldn't detect any difference between the additions and the original. Some of your starting and ending silences are still a little long - something to watch for in future recordings. but I am going to pass them here.

All above are PL OK.

Regarding checker: I have played around with how it works on the files, and for the noise, it appears to only look at the final second of the recording so if you have added time at the end which is quieter than the rest of the recording it will give you an inaccurate picture of the actual noise levels. What I did with your files was chop off the end and run them through checker again which gave me the higher levels in your first recordings.

Thanks,

M

Hello there:

I've just completed the recording for Item 109: The Last Ride Together by Robert Browning.

The link to it is here: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/famouspoems_109_various_128kb.mp3

Running time: 06:45

Please do take a listen and should there be any changes to be made, I'll try to get them done as quickly as I can.

Always,
Garfield
