I played around with the gain on my mic, and I think that seemed to help a bit.
Thank you for your advice Winnifred, I'll look into noise reduction in the future.
Is there any db level I should aim for when getting rid of background noise?

Thank you for your feedback about the background noise.
I'll look into reducing it in the future.
Do you have any advice on how to prevent noise before editing?
Here it is with the title fixed:

and 40: Length: 10:34 https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/famouspoems_040_various_128kb.mp3
These are my notes on 40, let me know if you agree that these parts should be done, and what else I should fix at the same time:
0:20 should be "doffed"; I hear "dothed."
3:20 should be "noise"; I hear "noice"
5:31 I stumble a bit over the words "celestial sheen"
8:35 should be "in vain"; I hear "enveined"

I wouldn't have noticed some of those without your drawing attention to them. Everything else was fine. I would recommend that you fix the problem areas before you submit the item for PL in future. It makes things easier for the DPL. :)

Go ahead and fix those four items and resubmit and I will listen again to those areas.

Section 80 is PL OK. Well done.

Thanks,

M

I thought this poem might benefit from being read in an appropriately English accent

My power has been out for a couple of days, but I'm back! I think the MW is all caught up with stuff ready for PL. Please let me know if I missed anything.

Sorry--hadn't noticed that there should have been a 0 in my filename until I saw your note in the MW. Here is the correctly named (otherwise identical) file for Lycidas, Section 044, 9:50

Back from a low-internet no-Librivox year in Georgia. Glad to be with you again.

You did a nice job with your reading of the poem. The only change I have is to drastically cut the length of the silence at 7:23. It is currently about nine seconds long. I would recommend that it be 2 seconds at the most but you can shorten it more.

Thanks,

Your reading of the poems was quite nice and I hope to hear more from you. :)
Most of my comments pertain to the LibriVox specifications.

General comments pertaining to all recordings:
There should be between 0.5 and 1 second of silence at the start and about 5 seconds of silence at the end.
Several of the recordings need noise reduction but all could benefit from it. Let me know if you have questions about this.

49:
please remove at least 0.5 seconds of silence at start
about 0:48 I hear "with", it should be "like" in "like committed linnets"
please delete about 1 second of silence at end
noise reduction necessary as too high

50:
please delete about 1.5 seconds of silence at start
noise reduction necessary as too high

51:
please delete about 3 seconds of silence at start
background noise is acceptable but high, noise reduction recommended

53:
please delete over 2 seconds of silence at start
about 4:27 the end of line after "Of Horror that" is missing, it should read "Of Horror that, and thrilling Fears"
about 5:41 the second "far" is missing in "Beneath the Good how far- but far above the Great"
please delete over 1 second of silence at end
background noise is acceptable but high, noise reduction recommended

54:
please delete around 1 second of silence at start
at about 0:52 and 0:54 text is repeated "Scared at thy frown terrific,"
please delete about 1 second of silence at end
background noise is acceptable but high, noise reduction recommended

Thanks,

Thank you so much for the feedback Krista. I admit going into this, I didn't read the instructions thoroughly enough. Here's a link to the thread of my one minute test: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=92384#top.

Here's my one-minute recording if this serves to be more convenient. https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_redfalcon1009.mp3

Once I receive a pass, I'll be sure to re-record this chapter with the correct specs.
Thank you. I had a listen, and it looks good. You've fixed the technical specs, and your volume in that recording is 88.3, which is right within our range. Just be careful about background noise, and make sure you leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.
You are ready to record!
Hello,
I kind of dropped the ball on this, sorry about that. But I now have you added to the MW and officially assigned to section 87. You can re-record and upload whenever you are ready.
