Hi, here is the link for Aurora Floyd chapter 8, running time 24:16. I exported it at 128kb but when I put it through the Checker it said the bit rate is not 128. I have tried a few times and I am not sure what the issue is, can you please advise?

128kb is not the just bit rate we want you to use, it is what Archive requires our files to be so that they can generate other files for readers with different devices.

Checker says this is 224 kbps 44,100 Hz Mono.

When you export your file out of Audacity, there is a drop-down where you select the bit rate: I see that 224 is an option, but I just tried with selecting 128 on a copy of your file and it passed Checker then.

Can you try again with your master file?

Hi Todd- I am not sure what is going on- I exported it using the drop down menu and choosing 128 kbps and then saving it. Then I put it through Checker and it flagged that the volume was too low but nothing about the bit rate being an issue. I fixed the volume issue by putting the recording through the MP3 Gain, then ran it through Checker again and it did not flag the volume but it flagged the bit rate! Is it possible that the MP3 Gain is changing the bit rate??? I have been using audacity for my Librivox projects for months and I have never had this bit rate issue and I always use MP 3 gain. I have no clue what is going on!

Could you make the gain change without MP3 Gain? I have not used MP3 Gain so I do not know what side effect it has - I just use the Audacity amplify effect to change gain.

I vaguely seem to remember that there were some issues amplifying with MP3 gain but not 100% sure
