Thank you so much!
You're very welcome.
It's been such a pleasure to read these. I hope that my interpretations convey the message that Percy intended in these poems. I really appreciate being able to contribute to this project.

Be of good cheer.

Here's a re-trim of #25 with the appropriate amount of beginning silence:

Thank you for the 3 PLs that were given to my readings. However it appears that I forgot to put the words 'Miscellaneous Poems' in the titles. Do you wish me to correct these faults?

I have uploaded a revised version of section 90, "Thou Callest Me Brother" to mighty felix.

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/museandmint_90_percy_128kb.mp3 Length is 2:05

I've tried to employ your wise suggestions, Larry, and reduced the spaces between lines/phrases, still hoping to make it feel somewhere between a lament and a rant.
I really don't think I found the bumps and noises you discerned, so if they're still there, please list them again, and I'll try again. This time I hope I'll remember to start from the end and work backwards.

I need to hear more about the hollow room. I'm in my office (10 x 12 ft), with a rug on the floor and books on the shelves, and the door closed. I'm using the mike built into my Mac. Is that last sentence the key?

I'm quite willing to buy a mike, and re-do the poem, if you wish. Or, you may prefer to offer the piece to someone else.

best regards
Noel

Oh, so much better on the poem!
I love the pacing -- gives it just the right dramatic effect.

The reverb is still within our parameters, so no need to redo anything.

I do think think that if you want to pursue more recording, obtaining a good USB microphone would be a good investment. There are some that are quite reasonably priced that do a good job. I've had mine from the beginning. Built-in mikes do pick up a lot of the reverb. Hmm. I think LV recently recorded a Zoom session where mikes were discussed. I've been meaning to watch it. I'll see if I can find a link. I think the other good investment is a set of good headphones. I love my Audio Tech ATH-M2Ox cans.

Your room does seem to be one that lends itself to reverb -- a square box. You can find all sorts of things on creating a recording space, but no need to go to extremes.

I had a lot of reverb, and I did just two simple things that helped a lot. Now I do have a more irregular shape but I had my microphone too far away. So, I got a cheap mike stand that I put next to my recliner, and then hung a couple of blankets behind where I sit when I record, and that absorbs some of the bass and cuts down on the reverb -- still not perfect, but better.

Let me encourage you to press on with recording. You've got a great voice and and expressive style. I think you are already ahead of where I was when I started. And, don't stress about any of these finer points.

Thanks so much for your contribution and I look forward to many more! :D

Thanks for this encouragement, Larry. I have a lot of time on my hands these days courtesy of Covid (and old age). I'd like to keep trying.

Thanks!
Thank you!
Nicely read, but some tech issues that need attention

-- The volume is quite a bit over our upper limit at 93.3 decibels our target is 89 with an acceptable range of 86-91 decibels. So, you need to "amplify" this down by about 4 dBs.

While you're at it, could trim the ending silence so that it is closer to 5 seconds?

And you might take a listen for some mouse clicks and mike bumps -- clink in the opening silence and some bumps in the pause between the intro and beginning of reading, and several in the closing silence. Minor, but since you need to upload a new file anyway, I thought I would mention these for your consideration.

Thanks for the good reading!

I've been looking forward to this -- thank you!

The reading is just fine, although I did find some of the pauses a bit too long.

There are, however, just a couple of technical issues to take care of.

1) The volume is too low at only 85 decibels. Our target is 89 decibels with an acceptable range of 86-92. So, if you could amplify this by 4 dBs it would be golden.

2) Silences -- At the beginning 0:5-1.0 seconds. Yours is a bit over one second, so you could trim this.
-- At the end, we like about 5 seconds, and yours is too short, so you can copy and paste some of the silence and trim it to be closer to 5 seconds.

Just upload your corrected file under the same name and post the link here again with the new file length and I'll give it a spot check.

Thank you again for your contribution!
