Oh, so much better on the poem!
I love the pacing -- gives it just the right dramatic effect.
The reverb is still within our parameters, so no need to redo anything.
I do think think that if you want to pursue more recording, obtaining a good USB microphone would be a good investment. There are some that are quite reasonably priced that do a good job. I've had mine from the beginning. Built-in mikes do pick up a lot of the reverb. Hmm. I think LV recently recorded a Zoom session where mikes were discussed. I've been meaning to watch it. I'll see if I can find a link. I think the other good investment is a set of good headphones. I love my Audio Tech ATH-M2Ox cans.
Your room does seem to be one that lends itself to reverb -- a square box. You can find all sorts of things on creating a recording space, but no need to go to extremes.
I had a lot of reverb, and I did just two simple things that helped a lot. Now I do have a more irregular shape but I had my microphone too far away. So, I got a cheap mike stand that I put next to my recliner, and then hung a couple of blankets behind where I sit when I record, and that absorbs some of the bass and cuts down on the reverb -- still not perfect, but better.
Let me encourage you to press on with recording. You've got a great voice and and expressive style. I think you are already ahead of where I was when I started. And, don't stress about any of these finer points.
Thanks so much for your contribution and I look forward to many more!
