Hi!

I'm sorry I missed that this had been finished. I listened to it today. You read very well and the reading is perfectly done. However, the volume is a little too low. Checker has it at 82.6 and it needs to be between 86 and 92. If you are using Audacity to record, you can open your recording there and use Amplify under the Effects menu to raise the volume between 4 and 5 decibels. Post here when you have uploaded the edited file and I will do a quick spot check -- and we will be finished!

Hi Colleen

I logged in yesterday and saw your message, since then have been trying to locate the file, but I seem to have misplaced it while shifting my folders around :(
Is there any way for you to send me the audio file so that I can work on the volume?

Thanks

You can download the file directly from the magic window (R click on LISTEN and choose Save file as) or just find the reply in this thread wher you posted the upload link. Both should get it to you, then you can amplify a bit, upload again and we can spot chedk! .

How silly of me to not think of that  my head was all muddled over the misplaced folder...
Here's the amplified version

Hi,

The volume is okay now but Checker is showing that the sampling rate is not correct. It should be 44.1 kHz. Here's a link to a video (by our very own BC Phil Chenevert) explaining how to fix the sampling rate in Audacity:

https://sites.google.com/site/librivideo/for-volunteers/recording#5

Also check your file name when you upload again, it should follow the format specified in the first post of the project. Yours appears to have a date and some extra numbers in it.

You're doing great, we are down to just the technical stuff now! And once you get all your defaults set correctly in Audacity you will never have to worry about it again, promise!

No, I don't even know where to start. The one time I had my sampling rate wrong (very early on), I redid all my settings and re-recorded. There's gotta be a better way than that but I don't know it...

I think the sampling rate can be changed from the bottom tool bar in Audacity. If you don't get to it by then, I can try changing it tomorrow - I'm not on the computer now.

sorry about this, and thank you for looking into it for me...I saw your message last night, then I downloaded, corrected and uploaded the file again ( though I was sure I had done it in my last post  ), but before I could post a reply with the link, my system went out of charge.
Don't know if that made any difference, but relieved that it sorted out.
