I have find another translation in french https://fr.wikisource.org/wiki/Po%C3%A9sies_de_Schiller/Le_Combat (1854), translator Xavier Marmier (1808-1892).
I can read both.

Thank you for finding multiple translations! Would be great if you read both of them. For this you'll need different file names: you can add to one of them a number in your initials.Isad wrote: ↑January 24th, 2022, 7:36 am Hi,

P.S. I am not certain with wikisource when they don't specifically state that their e-book is in PD, so I've found the same translation on archive.org. If MaryAnn confirms that it is OK to use wikisource I can change the link.

I don't see a scan of the title page on Wikisource to confirm the publication date. So please use the archive.org source for this translation.
Thanks!

Grazie, Emanuela!
Alexander is almost perfect.
Just one little correction.
At 1:51, 4th line of the second part of the poem
when you find:
"La merce' mi prepara.
Anima bella!"
Mercè have to be read with the accent on the very last vocal. This is important since as you read it (mérce) it means a common thing - for example something to be trade.
Mercè is an archaic word, often stands for "Mercede" and could have different meanings, from higher reward or award from Heavens, to Grace, or Fortune.
Sorry If I've been boring with my explanation!

I`ve not been boring at all and am grateful to you. Actually, I thought such a thing, but when I went to control, I was misguided by this mistaken example:Eysiss wrote: ↑January 24th, 2022, 2:40 pm Alexander is almost perfect.

Hi all, finally getting around to this (the time is almost up, right? This is a monthly poem for January?)
I posted a one-minute test here, so as soon as that's cleared and I have a reader page, I can upload my recording of the poem.
