Let's hear what Sonia and Todd think about it.

and PL ok now, thanks
Maybe we could put a clarifying sentence in this forum so it says.

"(Can be in the language of the recorded text. Translations into many languages are available here, but please follow the format below, which is slightly different.)"
yes one could do that if it's clearer.

Or maybe write this at the end of the disclaimer we want used, and say "Can be in the language of the recorded text. If you need guidelines for some technical terms in other languages, you can find them here"

This would be tricky, because we give the full and the short versions, so we have two "ends". I changed it to Partial translations are available on this page. Hopefully, this strikes a passable balance between precision and conciseness. Thanks for your suggestions!

mp3: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/msw031_annotation_of_guangchengzi_by_shi_su_lv_128kb.mp3
Duration: (11:39)
Author: Shi Su 蘇軾
Title: Annotation of Guangchengzi 廣成子解
Language: Chinse 中文
Text: https://zh.m.wikisource.org/zh-hant/%E5%BB%A3%E6%88%90%E5%AD%90%E8%A7%A3
Keywords: Guangchengzi 廣成子, Zhuang Zhou 庄子, Shi Su 蘇軾

From the idea of Taoism, Guang Chengzi was the avatar of Taishang Laojun (also named Daode Tianzun) during the period of Yellow Emperor in ancient Chinese history. According to Zhuangzi's recording, he lived in Kongtong Mountains, the Yellow Emperor visited him there for his teaching. He gave the Yellow Emperor several books that talked about the moral, natural, and philosophical issues, which helped the Yellow Emperor create the early Chinese civilization. It is said that Guang Chengzi had a long life of 1200 years. There is another saying that Guang Chengzi was the avatar of the Dao, who appeared in the human world three times – the first time as Guang Chengzi during the Yellow Emperor time; second as Laozi during the Spring and Autumn period; and third time as Zhang Daoling in the Han Dynasty.

He was an esteemed writer, revered poet, innovative painter, and a respected calligrapher, as well as being a pharmacologist, gastronome, and statesman of the Song Dynasty: he was a major personality of the Song era.

Hi Light & Love,

Good to see more Classical Chinese! Unfortunately, there's a couple of problems with this source. As explained in the instructions at the top of this thread, we can only use Wikisource texts if they is a scan available, which doesn't seem to be the case here. Also, the text (specific edition being read from) should be published in 1926 or earlier, and I don't see any information about this edition. Since this is a classic, you should be able to find a source that meets those criteria at one of the sites that host scans of old books:

https://archive.org/details/texts
https://www.hathitrust.org/
https://books.google.com/
Probably there are Chinese sites of this kind that I'm not aware of.

I hope you find a text we can use, and when you do, please compare your reading with that text and change any differences between the two that affect the meaning of the text.

You don't have to put underscores into the title and author name. The filename should be:

msw031_guangchengzijie_shisu_lv_128kb.mp3

Thanks!

Hello again,

This source is perfect!

Please give us a few keywords for this work, and be sure to list the title and author next time. I think was able to get both from the source, but it's easy for us to get those things wrong with Chinese.

I'll see if I can find a proof-listener who knows classical Chinese. If you get PL notes and need to make changes to the recording, please upload it with the filename:

msw031_shuitiaogetou_sushi_lv_128kb.mp3

Also, since this is your first contribution, please let me know under what name (real or nickname) you would like to be credited in the catalog. We can also list a blog or a personal website, if you have one.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi LightAndLove! Great to see some classical Chinese here.

I've proof-listened the file. See PL notes below:
0:00 The opening lines should be following https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=LibriVox_disclaimer#Chinese
4:00 Same goes for the ending!
4:08 There are only 2 seconds of silence at the end. Can we make it 5? This instruction is given in the first post of the thread.

Everything else is quite nice! Good job on that.

Just in case you haven't, I'd strongly encourage you to take a look at our newbie guide (in Chinese: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=%E6%96%B0%E6%89%8B%E5%BD%95%E9%9F%B3%E6%8C%87%E5%8D%97), where many useful tips can be found (e.g. edit from the back to the beginning after getting PL notes). Feel free to ask questions as you go along as well!
Cheers,
Yuqing :D

Thanks for PLing, Yuqing!

LightAndLove, to clarify: the intro and outro should follow the format given in the first message of this thread, which is a little different from the wiki page with translations. However, you can refer to the wiki page for help with translation. Let us know if you have any questions about that or about US copyright status of sources (we recommend doing so before you make a recording).

Hi everyone!
I'm new to Librivox and this is my first attempt to post something so I hope I've done everything correctly :)

I chose one of my favourite short stories in my native language Swedish:

MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/msw031_etthalvtarkpapper_strindberg_eam_128kb.mp3
Duration: 04:42
Author: August Strindberg
Title: Ett halvt ark papper
Language: Swedish
Text: https://archive.org/details/samladeskrifter38stri/page/50/mode/2up (page 51)
Keywords: death, grief, melancholia, nostalgia, starting over, light in the darkness

You can use my username in the catalogue.

This story is also available in English here, if anyone's interested: http://etthalvtarkpapper.se/category/lasa/engelska-lasa/

Since I'm a beginner I'd be grateful for any feedback on my reading :)

hello and welcome to the forum, and I'm especially thrilled to hear a new voice in this multilingual project. :9: I have not had many occasions so far to hear Swedish contributions, but your reading was excellent, and nicely paced and expressive, so I had no problems following along with the text  (and I even understood most of it  ) Already looking forward to hearing further stories from you.

With the text itself, there was no problem at all, basically word-perfect, wonderful. No need to re-record the whole text, but I would need a few small edits:

A few tweakings needed for the intro. As you can see in the first post (in English), all this info needs to be included (in Swedish). You're missing the underlined bits at the beginning.

> "[Work title] by [author], read in [language]. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org" [Optional: "Read by your name."]

> then one cosmetical detail at the end: from 4:29 to 4:32: this silence is too long. I always recommend staying between 1 to 1.5 seconds maximum. Anything over 2 seconds feels very long for a listener. Could you trim this a little bit please ?

> at the end, we need a standard 5 seconds of silence, you have over 7 seconds, also trim this a little bit

Simply re-upload with the exact same filename, then the old one will be replaced by the new one :) Thanks

I will open your reader page in a minute...stay tuned
