В. Рудченко.-mas
Hello, MaryAnn.
I need help. According to the information, that I've read about being a BC, when I have a book with many authors(in my case there are only two of them) I need to add the author and source and language for each section to the section metadata. As this book is a compilation the source must be the same for all sections. The author for the first 10 sections (Гнатюк) is in the dropdown list, so it was easy, but the other author of the last 10 sections Рудченко Іван Якович isn't there. Can you please add him to the database?
His first name is Іван, Ivan
last name is Рудченко, Rudchenko
He also used such pseudonyms as: (Ivan Bilyk)
years 1845-1905
Link to the wiki in Ukrainian
Alas, there is no wiki link in English, but there is a wiki link in French, if this would be helpful.
Please tell me if you need some other information.
Tan.

Tan,
For LV, a "compliation" is when the project contains readings from multiple sources. Something like the monthly poetry collection. We do not use it for a single book with multiple authors.
So I will make both Рудченко and Гнатюк authors for the entire book. And there is no need for you to enter the author source and language to the metadata for each section. (Sorry if you have already done that ...)
Thank you for letting me know.

Since I can't read the wikipedia entry, I need a short blurb for the author page -- just a few lines summarizing who he was. English is preferred, English/Ukrainian would be wonderful!
Thanks.

If you search on him in the catalog, all of the versions of his name now appear:
https://librivox.org/search/?q=Rudchenko&search_form=advanced
I made Rudchenko the primary entry. I'd be happy to add the Cyrillic spelling to the Archive record when the project is finished, so that it's easier to find there.

Oh, thank you for explaining, so I wouldn't do that mistake later. For LV, a "compliation" is when the project contains readings from multiple sources.
Ivan Yakovych Rudchenko (1845-1905), Ukrainian folklorist, ethnographer, writer, translator, literary critic, elder brother and co-author of Panas Myrny. His first publication was in 1960, when he was 15 years old in the 'Poltavsʹkykh hubernsʹkykh vidomostyakh'. Ivan Rudchenko made a significant contribution to folklore. He published a collection of 'Narodnye yuzhnorusskye skazky'(South Russian folk tales) in 2 volumes (1869 and 1870), a collection of 'Chumatskye narodnye pesny' ('Chumaks' folk songs' ) (1874), published ethnographic study 'O chumakakh y chumachestve'('About chumaks and their trade'), 'Chumaky v narodnykh pesnyakh'('Chumaks in folk songs') and 'Étnohrafycheskye raboty v Zapadnom krae v 1866 hodu'('Ethnographic researches in the Western region in 1866') in 1866. ' With these works, he initiated publication of Ukrainian folklore by the genre and thematic principle. With his brother Panas Myrnyi he wrote one of the most significant novels of Ukrainian classical literature 'Khiba revuty voli, yak yasla povni?'('Do the oxen bellow when the manger is filled?') Also he translated into Ukrainian works of I. Turgenev, A. Mickiewicz, G. Heine, J. Byron and others. Ukrainan version:

LOL, most of our entries are MUCH shorter! We give the wikipedia link for people who want more info. Here is what I have done:
https://librivox.org/author/15756
Does that look ok as a very very high level introduction?

I'll keep it somewhere as a model, just in case.

That was my fault. I capitalized the word, but didn't have the right font on my computer. I've been able to do a paste / copy to fix it. Thank you!

I thought so and I don't see it as a huge problem, as it was readable, though this way it really looks better =)))MaryAnnSpiegel wrote: ↑January 19th, 2021, 5:20 pm I capitalized the word, but didn't have the right font on my computer.
