Hey Michael,
I did a new recording from scratch, I'm so sorry! I tried editing the old one, but applying more noise reduction made it sound awful. So I made my environment quieter and did a new recording.
So sorry I didn't realize this will create more work for you. This is my first submission and this is an important learning experience for me. Thank you for all your help!
No worries. The first submission is always a learning experience. :) I'll listen to the new recording tomorrow.

as announced in the Multilingual Project 026, I will transfer Vivienne's section to this project.

Details for the section and the PL notes can be seen here in the previous project: viewtopic.php?p=1797524#p1797524

Meanwhile Rachel's Igreja do Diabo has been transferred to the previous project to fill up the opened slot.

Vivienne now has more time to check out the corrections that need to be made.

I will update the MW now...

Here's another artcile by Henryk Sienkiewicz on the topic of the Polish migration to America. This time an overview of the conditions existing among the emigrants. Rather bitter and pessimistic, as the author himself states at the end.

Title: Osady polskie w Stanach Zjednoczonych
Author: Henryk Sienkiewicz
Uploader Link: I forgot to copy it. I hope you'll be able to retrieve it from Todd's folder?
Duration 44:14
Source: https://pl.wikisource.org/wiki/Osady_polskie_w_Stanach_Zjednoczonych (includes link to scans)
Publication date: 1906
Language: Polish
Key words: artykuł, publicystyka, emigracja, Ameryka, Stany Zjednoczone

If you read along, you'll notice some discrepancies in the part starting at 9:03 where the author lists the towns and settlements. That's because I cross-checked the list with Google and, having found some typos in the names given by Sienkiewicz or the editor, I decided to read them the way they should be. Most of them look like simple typographical errors.

Thank you, Piotrek. Could you just upload the file again? I hear that accessing the files on the server is a bit of a hassle.

Hmm, I'm a bit concerned that we may be crossing the line between reading out loud and editorial work, but I'll defer to you and Sonia on this one.

well if it is obvious typos and those towns only exist written like Piotr said them, I'm ok with it. I'll see how far off the mark they are. ;) But not tonight...

thank you, Piotr for another very interesting historical find. For me as linguist I especially liked the language adaptations to English at the end of the text. 8-) As for the town names, I think these were typos indeed and you handled it very well. All PL ok

Hi Vivienne,

I'm glad you found the time to make these changes! The workflow for collaborative projects is a bit different from solo projects. The readers post the upload link and duration in the project thread whenever they upload a recording and the BC (me, in this case) then updates the MW. Could you re-upoad your file and post those two pieces of information? This is needed to make sure that we have the correct version in the MW. Please note that the filename should contain "027" instead of "026", since we've moved to the next volume of the collection.

Thanks!
Michael

I actually already changed the file name yesterday when I changed the two chapters. So the link in the MW is the correct one and was replaced by the new file. :)

I rummaged in Todd's server folder just now and indeed it is the same link: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/msw027_divorce_lu_vw_128kb.mp3

Do you think you could do a spot PL with Vivienne's info ? Or should we wait for Tina ? Then we need to contact her because I don't think she is following this new thread yet.

Thanks for looking into that! Yes, I can do spot PL, but not today... a little busy with non-LV things at the moment. :)
